Having served up some of the finest techno slabs of the past decade through the likes of Sandwell District, Stroboscopic Artefacts and now their own dedicated imprint, Eaux, Rrose steps in the series with a bonkers mix of dusty techno hustle-and-bustle, neatly alternating sequences of pumping 4x4 aerobatics, searing, noise-adjacent outbursts and eerie melodies to hypnotic effect. A constant balancing act of raw power and haunting score, Rrose’s RYC mix takes us on a deep and fascinating trip into genre-unbound territories, where only abandon and wildness reign supreme. 'One' is the debut album from burgeoning Portuguese techno producer Afonso Esperança aka Backbone @backbone-3

After his 'Gatekeeper' EP (COUNTER033), including the iconic 'Take A Trip' which gathered support far and wide, Backbone stretches out over nine wonderfully detailed and intense tracks.

Exploring the modern techno paradigm, 'One' is full of positively charged, bassline-driven heaters. The founder of the Vinculum Festival in Portugal, Esperança's unique sound design, vocal FX and tension-heavy arrangements carve a clear course from the heart to the dancefloor. From the tingling ambient intro of 'Mundo Novo' straight into the addictive 'Press To Regenerate' its clear there's countless details to discover forged into these tracks.

Counterchange founder Inland straps in on 'Generation Gap', one of the early highlights of the album, with its surging industrial pulse and funky forward momentum.

The stunning broken beats and bleeps of 'There Is No Spoon' hit hard and dark while remaining elegant and certainly not over-driven. Every track on the LP is a microcosm of Backbone's kinetic techno manifesto - he infuses a rich stereo image, textured crunch and silky bass-end bounce on stand-out tracks like 'Strike A Dose', 'Minucioso' and 'No Casket Space'.

Bringing the album to a close with the night-time drive of 'Ride The Snake', Backbone summons the spirits of his mountainous home region in a hypnotising, shamanic ritual for the closing sets.

Involve Records is thrilled to welcome the young Argentinian talent, Zisko, with his latest offering "All Or Nothing.” This highly anticipated EP marks Zisko's first venture with Involve Records, showcasing a 5-tracker that vividly captures his distinctive sound and artistic growth. 

The EP begins with the title track "All or Nothing," a groovy track that skillfully blends complex percussion, vocal one-shot, and a lively bassline, establishing an engaging tone for the entire release. It is followed by "The Waltz of the Unseen," an evocative piece that combines nostalgic pads, robust basslines, and rhythmic percussion, weaving a tale of resilience and hope. 

On the flip side, "I Don't Think So" features a catchy vocal loop with a driving bassline and engagings grooves, creating an irresistible beat that captivates listeners. Dès ses débuts en tant que résident du club emblématique Le Rafiot, il participe également aux soirées BÄZÄR et se produit dans plusieurs clubs locaux et internationaux. Digger acharné, il mélange les styles et les sonorités avec ses origines et influences musicales, passant du Hiphop à la Techno.

Sur scène son dynamisme est contagieux, il est en mouvement et connexion perpétuelle avec le public. Il innove et se renouvelle constamment dans ses sets et aussi dans ses productions, ayant plusieurs sorties sur plusieurs labels d’identités différentes.

EN -Egyptian DJ/Producer Hamza is an energetic artist who has been a fixture on the Strasbourg scene for over 10 years. 

From his early days as a resident of the emblematic club Le Rafiot, he has also taken part in BÄZÄR parties and performed in a number of local and international clubs. A relentless digger, he mixes styles and sounds with his musical origins and influences, moving from Hiphop to Techno.

On stage, his dynamism is contagious, and he's in perpetual motion and connection with his audience. He's constantly innovating and renewing his sets and productions, with several releases on different labels with different identities.

Porter Brook’s experimentation with Live Coding considers the reality of dance music culture in the 2020’s to be inseparably mediated through algorithms and digital space. The attention economy and the corporate co-optation of the underground has dissolved a large part of dance music culture in an acrid solvent of content creation.

Prefrontal Asymmetry liberates itself within the overstimulation which this generational change demands of us. By seldomly evoking traditional motifs and clichés of the dance-floor amongst fierce algorithmic noise and repurposed snippets of short-form digital media, Prefrontal Asymmetry provides an alternative and optimistic thesis on the perceived annihilatory Zeitgeist of Gen-Z Clubland:

“Nothing can be more freeing than resigning oneself to onslaught of stimulus, and rejecting the sincerity of such content in favour of heartfelt experimentation, cherished relationships and the joy of experience.”

This modus operandi is bolstered by collaborative work with Lagos Born, Manchester Based vocalist LINTD [@L1NTD], who provides technologically mutated ruminations on self esteem, value, and fear within our contemporary landscape. A remix from GAEL [@gaelabakarova] on the B side further contextualises and physicalises the message.

TL;DR - This record is sort of TikTok Techno.
