Doris was an unknown girl

Another Undercover Hangover

I wore sunglasses at midnight just to dodge the truth
'Cos the truth was something else that I just couldn't undo
So I stumbled through the alleys with my pockets full of doubts
Mixed in with the changes that had me fighting fruitless bouts

Spilling cheap secrets from a flask with no label
Deceiving myself and all the demons at my table
They raised up their glasses and laughed at my surprise
Guess I was fooling nobody with my angel disguise

Footsteps taken stain the floor
Boots and sneakers, pumps and more
Patent leather dots the crowd
With my jeans rolled up, I'm looking down

Every footprint's printed page

Steve Martin (the famous Steve Martin) posts absurd phone photos on facebook and this song was prompted by one. It's a lid on a floor captioned, "BIG NEWS! This lid landed on the floor and didn't roll under a chair or counter or anything. It landed and stayed." Joe provide an instrumental seed he named "Diddly Shit" and I used that as the music basis writing the lyric and then arranging it in sunoai.

My thoughts are like lids
