Happy new year everyone! We're back in action and kicking off 2022 with none other than Roman Sputnik. The Lithuanian DJ is a key figure in his country's scene and is the technical head and co-founder of the mighty Digital Tsunami, which is an homage to the classic Drexciya track of the same name. What started as a party and podcast series is now grown into the DT Camp festival in Lithuania and a platform that helps to promote both established and up-and-coming artists. As a DJ, he combines his deep experience and killer instincts to bring together dark downtempo chuggers, acid-infused techno and gritty breaks into a killer dancefloor storyline. Lock in!

Galactic Funk Podcast 070 - Roman Sputnik

We're incredibly pleased to welcome Robert Heise, best known for his iconic electro project The Exaltics. For over 20 years by now Robert Heise is a part of the electronic music scene. He started his career as resident DJ at the Club Kassablanca in Jena, where he performed with big players such as Robert Hood, Jeff Mills or Claude Young. While organizing several Electronica parties with Dj Mikk in and around Jena, he was able to show his talents and give the parties/ music his own drive. Robert founded the project The Exaltics in 2006 as well as the electro/ techno label SolarOneMusic with his long term friend Nico Jagiella. Since then he published countless 12"s and several LP's with labels like Clone, Crème Organization, Bunker or his own label SolarOneMusic and worked during that time with outstanding artists like Drexciya´s Gerald Donald, Helena Hauff, Egyptian Lover or Depeche Mode´s Martin Gore for example. He turned his deep cinematic and most of all charismatic electro into his own trademark. Lock yourself in for electro from the top shelf including tracks by Dez Williams, Chupacabras, Serge Geyzel, Volruptus, Marcos Cabral, and many others.

It's finally sunny Amsterdam and we're extra happy to welcome LVRIN to the GF series. The DJ and hardware focussed producer has been impressing with his work for some time with deadly releases on labels like Electric Shapes, Sign Bit Zero, numerous on Pinkman Broken Dreams, on towLie's kaften label, on Arma Records as his alias Golden Axe and others. With the recent Ukraine war, he has made it a point as a Russian artist to take a stance against violence and speak out. He has contributed in many ways including all sales from his EP on Pinkman this year as well as being part of the fundraiser compilation by Global Warming Records which was curated by Yssue and featured 22 Russian artists. Lock in for a synth-heavy hour of chugging electro, EBM, and more.

This week on the GF series is the talented DJ and musician Gael. The Berlin-based artist is known for her distinctive blend of techno and experimental electronics, delivered with energy and style. As a producer, she's featured on labels such as Standard Deviation, System, Topot, Meta Moto, Minor Adjustments, Kashev Tapes, and most recently a shared track with Egzotikka on the newly launched Comme des Larmes VA. She combines this stellar body of work with scores, installations, and live performances under her alias shemovesshe. Her touring schedule is pleasantly packed with appearances at Berghain, Oxi Club, Institut Fuer Zukunft, Mala Junta, and native ∄ where she is also holding a residency at a queer party ХІТЬ. Lock in for an hour of raw, atom-splitting electronics.

We're incredibly pleased to welcome Dissemblance to the GF series. She is a very talented and poetic artist that the entire GF team have been following for a while and had the pleasure of meeting in person at Intergalactic FM fest this year. You can check her lauded album “Centauresse” on the mighty L.I.E.S. records, following up her 2019 debut album "Over The Sand" for Mannequin Records. Her productions bring a variety of sounds and invite us to explore the full range of her musical dynamics, leading the listener into her universe where the border between dreams and reality blurs into one, with no tangible beginning or end. If you happen to be in Paris on Friday, December 8th, do not miss her Dissemblance Live at Petit Bain to enjoy the full experience. For the series, she has crafted a special session where she gives us a unique and magical mix out of her studio in Paris, incorporating exclusive vocals and Rhodes improvisations over 80 beautiful minutes of thoughtful and sensory music. She plays tracks from the 80s: Schleimer K, DZ Lectric & Anthon Shield, taking a funky turn with Girl Unit, to arrive to some dirty acid music by Beverly Hills 808303, ending with a solo rough Rhodes impro through the Moog Cluster Flux pedal. This mix is literally a special journey through a solid selection, poetic vocals and inventive jams. Don't take our word for it: Lock in!

The series rages on this week with none other than Randstad! He is a producer and DJ alias of multidisciplinary artist Thomas van Linge. Aside from his many killer releases on the likes of Veyl, Pinkman Body Musick and many others, he is also the co-founder of well known labels such as BAKK, RUBBER, and the PLAFOND series. Although he is well known for his electro and EBM compositions, his talent and acumen know no bounds with more recent releases colouring outside of these lines. He's assembled a weaponry of tehcno bangers for the GF series with tracks by Stranger, Fresko, Lenson, Anetha, Peder Mannerfelt, Oscar Mulero, Schwefelgelb, Manny Dee, and many other. Lock - IN!

We have Mowgli on the series this sunny autumn day. We continue the GF series this week with one of the pillars of the Dutch electro scene, none other than DJ Overdose. Hailing from The Hague and based in Rotterdam, his story starts in the eighties. His vision was to create a vibe “where the subs are devastating and the beats are raw". He underpins his work with booming Miami bass and draws on his love for 80s hip-hop to conjure up his signature style. He's etched his mark on deeply loved and respected labels such as L.I.E.S., Creme Organization, Bordello A Parigi, Pinkman, Viewlexx, Murder Capital, his own RotterHague, and many others. Famously dexterous in the booth, DJ Overdose has well-honed skills that make him able to tear up a larger stage or connect with a more intimate crowd. He graces this series with a two-and-a-half-hour live recording at the Down The Rabbit Hole festival. Lock in!'

Boris is a DJ & producer from Greece, based in Paris. An artist truly devoted to the original underground techno sound and culture, mostly influenced by early electro, synth wave, industrial, broken rhythms, FM synths and cinematic lo-fi distorted and absurd soundscapes. After spending many years in the UK and Serbia he got involved with collecting records, making tracks, exploring sounds from various sources and field recordings, strongly bonded with a unique vision and character regarding true expression through music in a greater spectrum.

The GF series is back this week with Ayshel. The young, Athens-based DJ is part of the Stegi Radio team and hosts her show CALL NOW for over four years. Her show features artists such as Pi Electronics resident Zorz, LVRIN, and others. When she's not playing Athens staples like Astron Bar, which sadly closed, she has been making the rounds at festivals like Healthy Summer Fest and others. Her selections are located somewhere between tribal beats, hypnotic melodies and industrial sounds. Her mix is no exception. Lock in for an hour from one of Athens' hottest up-and-coming DJs.

Kutkh Jackdaw is a Scottish producer and DJ, now based in Brighton, whose productions and mixes take influence from a wide variety of different genres, from post-punk, darkwave and EBM, to synth, industrial and techno. He uses a range of techniques including a heavy use of inventive sampling, combined with extensive use of vintage 80’s hardware. His 'Sweat & Thunder EP' was released on Dark Disco, with tracks also released on Lunacy, Of Dolls & Murder, N.I.M, and Sonidos Subterraneos, mixes on various podcast series, and an appearance on Strict Tempo.

FAQ warps into an alien system with Decomposition 28. Based in Leipzig, the longtime DJ and former resident at the legendary IfZ, sizzles with this ominous, offworld mix. As one half of Disposable Time (along with Alice in Flames) he has been a linchpin in the Leipzig scene, throwing some serious parties, cohosting a show on Callshop Radio as well as the eponymous mix series of the same name. Prepare to be transported into another dimension for an hour of fuzzed-out alien acid, broken up gutter electronics, and occult wave that fuse together seamlessly in this tenebrous set.

Solid Steel in association with Serato (2nd October) Bristol producer Decka has just released his new Begyndelsen EP via new Berlin label SPE:C, and has already been garnering attention from FACT, Boiler Room, and Mixmag, as well as featuring in the sets of Randomer, Matrixxman and Objekt. he told us;
"I recorded this mix at my home studio in Bristol. It contains mostly new tracks that I've really been feeling, intertwined with some new bits from myself and a bunch of unreleased tracks from new producers. Enjoy!"

In anticipation of Atom™ and Tobias' tour of the US over the next two weekends (July 29 - Stereo Montreal, July 30 - The Bunker New York,  August 5 - Surface Tension SF, and August 6 - Lunar Lodge Colorado), we dug up this set, recorded at The Bunker New York showcase at Anthology at The Works in Detroit on May 25, 2015.  This three hour live and improvised set of hypnotizing mind control music closed out Movement weekend in epic fashion.  The room was still packed when they finished at 6am.

The fifth record on NEW YORK TRAX is by Lot.te, the Turkish-born, Brooklyn-based DJ, producer and designer affiliated with The Bunker NY by virtue of two well-received vinyl releases. This politically charged record is Lot.te’s personal reflection on the current social and political climate in Turkey. With rhythmic synths tactilely brought to the foreground, Lot.te committed a masterpiece that only a skilled and thoughtful artist like himself can commit. The opening ‘Ultra Vires’ is a relentless synth-driven and warehouse-styled track mercilessly rolling at the speed of 140BPM. The deeper Ausnahmezustand follows; it is a reflective and rhythmical piece good for both home listening and the dance floor. 15.07.2016 opens the B side with its tense yet playful atmosphere and numerous constantly evolving layers of sound. Finally, Graft is a shockingly intense introspective piece. Made with the use of Japanese Taiko drums, it is a lesson in perfect sound design. VINYL ONLY!

@Asymmetrical is the boss of the @raw-culture-recordings label, a young niche label on the Italian scene that focuses on raw sonority and includes releases by @rawambassador, @cardopusher, and many others. The recent PUSHERS 04 VA exemplifies just this, raw and uncut from start to finish. He is a resident of the 01 collective in Rome and is a part of projects such as @fauna53 and @distorted-portrait which has a great release on @rawpaperrecords. 
In this raw and hypnotic session, he demonstrates exactly what the Raw Culture label is about, relentless from start to finish. Tune in!
