Glory Podcast #64 Chris Nexus 6

Fresh out of Los Angeles comes a whole new take on Beyoncé’s 2003 smash hit “Crazy in Love”. clavette and Racket Club are unleashing their Nu Disco edit of the track on audiences all over the world and they wanted you to be among the first DJs to spin it live.

Sitting around clavette’s studio in LA the two were looking for a well-known track to put their stamp on that would result in an immediate party-starter. But they wanted to create something a little off the beaten path from the typical Bass and Tech sounds that are so common around Southern California.

Combining clavette’s polished production skills with Racket Club’s passion for driving bass lines and Hip-Hop inspired vocals the track came together over the course of a week. The duo even recruited rising star LEFTI to contribute guitar licks that adds some true funk and soul to the production. Adding Jay-Z’s vocals in for the first drop gets the audience hyped rather than waiting til the end for his part to shine.

What started out as a cheeky idea turned into what will be one of the sure-shot releases of the Summer as the world starts opening back up and parties go from 0 to 100 real quick. Already picked up by Space Yacht label bosses London Bridges and Hidden Hen as well as Insomniac co-collaborator Adam Auburn there’s no denying this one will fit in set lists from beaches to pools to main stages at festivals.

clavette and Racket Club have been DJing in the States from coast to coast for over two decades combined. Both run the label Top Shelf Disco out of Los Angeles with clavette seeing his own productions out on Toolroom, Simma Black, Deep Root Records, and many more.

Spin Fidelity is Antonio Velazquez a DJ producer and record label manager (Magnonic Signals) from England. He has been playing records for over 20yrs in and held residencies in Manchester and also his hometown of Macclesfield. He currently plays on Timeline Music once a month streaming live DJ sets. With his music under the alias Spin Fidelity, he makes electro and techno/house music very much with Detroit stylings and sound aesthetics. His own label Magnonic Signals showcases new and exciting producers as well as veterans always on vinyl format with soulful electronics. Threads Radio - July 2021 Part 1

Univac is the electro focussed project by Rafael M. Espinosa from Barcelona and are extremely pleased to welcome him to the series. He is also known for his techno-industrial project Geistvorm. The Univac project focuses on analogic sounds with a deep influence from The Hague and robotic electro styles. This veteran producer released his first EP on the iconic Bunker Records as well as David Vunk's Moustache Records, 30D Records, Femur Records, Diffuse Reality, as well as a recent release on New York-based Melodize. He also recently did an incredible performance as part of Pinkman's District series. His selection is a relentless composition that embodies his menacing and uncompromising approach to electro that we just can't get enough of. Lock in!

Glory Podcast #68 MANASYt (Post Wave Transmission)

Well it's not all from London I know, but like many a scene, London has often been a processing point for what's being generated elsewhere. In this case, very much courtesy of Frankfurt, Detroit, Rotterdam, New York and of course the UK itself. This is a fairly close recreation of the regular sets I played at VFM, Dead By Dawn, Eurobeat 2000, Institute Of Goa, Helter Skelter and various squat parties (Spiral Tribe, Bedlam) in and around London. Hard banging techno leading up to some of the decent first instances of gabba.  It's at a point where things were quickly splintering off from the highly successful UK Rave Hardcore sound of 92 and reconnecting with a harder updated version of what had previously been coming out of Detroit, Brooklyn, Belgium and Holland around 89/90/91. Looking back, though it seemed such a very separate sound from breakbeat hardcore, with the distance of time they were both very much shades of the same rave. Ah the memories….

We're incredibly pleased to welcome Dissemblance to the GF series. She is a very talented and poetic artist that the entire GF team have been following for a while and had the pleasure of meeting in person at Intergalactic FM fest this year. You can check her lauded album “Centauresse” on the mighty L.I.E.S. records, following up her 2019 debut album "Over The Sand" for Mannequin Records. Her productions bring a variety of sounds and invite us to explore the full range of her musical dynamics, leading the listener into her universe where the border between dreams and reality blurs into one, with no tangible beginning or end. If you happen to be in Paris on Friday, December 8th, do not miss her Dissemblance Live at Petit Bain to enjoy the full experience. For the series, she has crafted a special session where she gives us a unique and magical mix out of her studio in Paris, incorporating exclusive vocals and Rhodes improvisations over 80 beautiful minutes of thoughtful and sensory music. She plays tracks from the 80s: Schleimer K, DZ Lectric & Anthon Shield, taking a funky turn with Girl Unit, to arrive to some dirty acid music by Beverly Hills 808303, ending with a solo rough Rhodes impro through the Moog Cluster Flux pedal. This mix is literally a special journey through a solid selection, poetic vocals and inventive jams. Don't take our word for it: Lock in!

The series rages on this week with none other than Randstad! He is a producer and DJ alias of multidisciplinary artist Thomas van Linge. Aside from his many killer releases on the likes of Veyl, Pinkman Body Musick and many others, he is also the co-founder of well known labels such as BAKK, RUBBER, and the PLAFOND series. Although he is well known for his electro and EBM compositions, his talent and acumen know no bounds with more recent releases colouring outside of these lines. We continue the GF series this week with one of the pillars of the Dutch electro scene, none other than DJ Overdose. Hailing from The Hague and based in Rotterdam, his story starts in the eighties. His vision was to create a vibe “where the subs are devastating and the beats are raw". He underpins his work with booming Miami bass and draws on his love for 80s hip-hop to conjure up his signature style. He's etched his mark on deeply loved and respected labels such as L.I.E.S., Creme Organization, Bordello A Parigi, Pinkman, Viewlexx, Murder Capital, his own RotterHague, and many others. Famously dexterous in the booth, DJ Overdose has well-honed skills that make him able to tear up a larger stage or connect with a more intimate crowd. He graces this series with a two-and-a-half-hour live recording at the Down The Rabbit Hole festival. Lock in!'

The GF series is back this week with Ayshel. The young, Athens-based DJ is part of the Stegi Radio team and hosts her show CALL NOW for over four years. Her show features artists such as Pi Electronics resident Zorz, LVRIN, and others. When she's not playing Athens staples like Astron Bar, which sadly closed, she has been making the rounds at festivals like Healthy Summer Fest and others. Her selections are located somewhere between tribal beats, hypnotic melodies and industrial sounds. Her mix is no exception. Lock in for an hour from one of Athens' hottest up-and-coming DJs.
