Ein wunderbar unkonventioneller und wohltuender Sound aus House, Breaks, Bass und Contemporary Club kommt mit dem step045 von Sui. Gekonnt verspielt übergeht sie die Genregrenzen und modelliert ihre eigene Klangästhetik. In Frankfurt musikalisch sozialisiert ging ihr Weg über Leipzig nach Weimar, wo sie aktuell experimentelles Radio studiert. Neben unterschiedlichsten Engagements in der Clubkultur, bei Workshops und Podiumsdiskussionen ist Sui ein Teil des FLINTA-Netzwerkes L1CK und eine starke Stimme im Kampf gegen das Patriachart in der Musikszene. Vielen Dank für deinen Einsatz in der Szene und den tollen Mix moderner Ausdrucksmusik für uns.

A wonderfully unconventional and soothing sound of House, Breaks, Bass and Contemporary Club comes with the step045 by Sui. Playfully she transcends genre boundaries and models her own sound aesthetic. Musically socialized in Frankfurt, her path went via Leipzig to Weimar, where she is currently studying experimental radio. Besides various engagements in club culture, workshops and panel discussions, Sui is part of the FLINTA network L1CK and a strong voice in the fight against patriachart in the music scene. //Was bedeutet eure Musik für euch?//
Musik muss etwas in uns auslösen. Sei es Euphorie, Melancholie oder fast schon kindlichen Spaß. Deswegen sind wir große Fans von Melodien, wie sie etwa im Trance der 90er, 2000er oder im Neo-Trance, der aktuell vor allem aus Frankreich und Deutschland kommt, zu finden sind. Dabei kann es auch schon mal trashig werden. Wir spielen das, wozu wir selber gerne tanzen würden.

//Woher nehmt ihr eure Inspiration?//
Das kann ganz unterschiedlich sein. Manchmal, weil wir Sets von anderen Künstler:innen hören, die uns beeindrucken. An anderen Tagen kommt die Inspiration beim Hören von einzelnen Stücken, was uns dann zur Idee für ein Set führt. Zweiteres war der Fall bei diesem Podcast. Wir wollten einige langsamere Tracks aus unserer Trance-Sammlung zu einem Set für einen warmen Sommertag oder -abend zusammenstellen. Der Aufbau und der Einbau von weiteren "Genreferneren" Tracks ergaben sich dann beim Ausprobieren. 

//Was müsste sich eurer Meinung nach an der Szene ändern?//
Wir gehen beide für unser Alter schon relativ lange zu elektronischer Musik feiern. Früher gab es kaum Frauen hinter den Decks, das hat sich in den letzten Jahren zum Glück bereits geändert. Viele Künstler:innen, die uns in der jüngeren Vergangenheit am meisten inspiriert haben, sind FLINTA. Wir haben jedoch das Gefühl, dass mit dem neuen Hype um Techno, der vor allem durch Social Media befeuert wird, auch der Spirit etwas verloren gegangen ist. Wir würden uns daher wünschen, dass alle Mitfeiernden wieder mehr Acht und Rücksicht aufeinander geben und die Kommerzialisierung über Mode zurückgeht. Awareness-Teams sollten außerdem überall Standard sein.

Den Neubeginn macht unser langjähriger Garry Klein Resident Leon Haller. Der Mitbegründer der Partyreihe PERRAS, die auch im Harry bis zuletzt monatlich für Ekstase sorgte, haut euch in diesem Mix eine Stunde feinsten House jeglicher Couleur um die Ohren, nicht ganz rauschfrei aufgenommen vom sich drehenden schwarzen Gold. Ganz nach seinem Motto "no genres, just abundance" bedient er sich in diesem Mix verschiedenster Arten von treibenden, dreckigen und euphorischen Tracks.

yea, supahyped @kansi0 is joining our series<33 Kansi (she/her) has decided to not declare love for any one genre, going for sounds that are unheard. Usually starts with House, often mixes Disco & Italo, can't help but play some Acid, sometimes experiments with Ambient and Techno but always try to play true to her heart. Co-started Sunday Love Affair with two other FLINTA* Djs and is looking forward to new adventures in 2024.

Interview with Kansi

•  How did you get into DJing? 
I have spent my whole life thinking i'm not musically talented because i didn't play any instrument and didn't go to any formal classes but i always enjoyed sounds. When I moved to Leipzig in 2018, I saw FLINTA* Djs for the first time, In 2021 I got the chance to learn with https://soundcloud.com/mainades , we started playing together and practising in different proberaums. trying to bring fresh house perspective to Indian and Balkan sounds. We played our first gig in Distillery Leipzig in 2022 and haven't looked back. We still like to play together whenever we can but also play by ourselves!

• Where do you get inspirations?
Radio shows, walks, movies and my friends!

•  Where do you prefer to DJ or to make music in general?
When I started I really like performing for people, it gave my more power and the joy to see people dancing brings instant rush however I have started to really enjoying playing on the radio maybe a teeny bit more also, the freedom to express and to play how you feel instead of catering to the audience. Live radio shows have a level of authenticity that is unbeatable.

• Did you have any specific thoughts about your podcast?
I'm not one to stick to a genre, i like smoothness in ambient sets however the waviness and ups and downs are my favourite, it represents life more.

• What would you like to change in the music scene if you could?
More FLINTA* and BIPoC people. 

• What was your first record?
I bought myself a copy Thriller for my 11th birthday 

• What memories do you have of your music lessons? Would your teachers consider you in the music/ club industry today?
First answer, never had access to music lessons but its never too late!

• What do you wish for in the future from your audience, the club culture?
Being more open to challenging themselves and listening to more than what they know already. Indian music is more than bollywood for example. I often try to play tracks produced by Indians to show the diversity of sounds.
