Warbly-voiced Long Beach Songwriter, Alyssandra Nighswonger’s most recent project has been diving headfirst into the whimsical world of Harry Nilsson, with the ambitious production of her tribute album, Nighswonger Sings Nilsson, recorded at Big Ego Studio with producer Chris Schlarb. 

But by day, Nighswonger, works for the Catalina Island Museum - she commutes on the sunrise boat across the channel from Long Beach and utilizes the early hours on the water to dream and scheme. The rest of the time she is inspired by big adventures and sweet old songs. 

Nighswonger has played with local southern CA bands, The Dovelles & Lucky Penny, both of which were collaborations of several local songwriters who released EPs and toured up the coast and across the country. She hosted the Viento y Ague Open Mic (voted best Open Mic in Long Beach by the LB Post), serving as a rock of the Long Beach Music Community for 10 years. In 2012, the songwriter completed a 1,450-mile music tour by bicycle from Seattle, WA to Long Beach, CA. She has also collaborated with Logan Crow of the Frida Cinema, and Long Beach Cinematheque to merge live performance with film screenings and coordinated several Cat Stevens tribute shows for cemetery screenings of Harold and Maude, and helped live score screenings of The Artist and Nosferatu with the Balboa Amusement Company Orchestra. She produced a series of “Vaudeville Spectaculars”, selling out the Art Theatre of Long Beach, featuring collaborations between dozens of local acts, including bands, songwriters, belly dancers, acro-yogi’s and a “strong-bear” competing head to head in a stationary bicycle race with local super hero, The Bixby Knolls Ranger. 

After releasing “Nighswonger Sings Nilsson” she looks forward to releasing a studio album of her own songs she has in the works.
