Lorenzo Romano (Firenze, 1985) is an Italian composer based in Hamburg.

He studied composition at conservatory Luigi Cherubini of Florence with Mauro Cardi and at the Universität der Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz with Beat Furrer (instrumental composition) and Marko Ciciliani (computer music). Currently he is enrolled in a Phd program at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg and he’s writing a new full-length opera for the Hamburg State Opera, which will be premiered in June 2021.    

He attended master classes with: H. Lachenmann, S. Gervasoni, S. Sciarrino, P. Hurel, R. Saunders, G. F. Haas. His music has been awarded by several composition competitions such as Premio Valentino Bucchi, Concorso Internazionale Franco Evangelisti, Oper der Zukunft (Graz).

Its works have been performed in Usa, Argentina, Belgium, France (Royaumont), Germany (Darmstadt Ferienkurse), Austria (Oper Graz, impuls, Klangspuren, Wien Modern), Italy (Biennale di Venezia, Nuova Consonanza), Estonia, Croatia by performers such as Neue Vocalsolisten, Ensemble Recherche, Quartetto Prometeo, Schallfeld Ensemble, Donatienne Michel-Dansac, Pierre-Stéphane Meugé, Antonio Politano, Marco Fusi. His music has been broadcast in national radios such as Radio3 (Italy), SRF2 (Switzerland) SWR (Germany), ORF (Austria).

The concepts of transcription and elaboration connected with new technologies are at the core of his music. He works regularly with dancers and choreographers.
He is one of the founder member of Schallfeld Ensemble, new music group based in Graz, Austria.
In 2008 he graduated in contemporary history at Università degli studi di Firenze.

Classé Monument historique, le Couvent des Dominicains est un haut-lieu du patrimoine architectural d'Alsace, témoin de l'humanisme rhénan. Il héberge un “Centre culturel de rencontre” (abréviation CCR), un label national qui a été décerné par le Ministère de la Culture en 2014. Il existe 17 autres centres labélisés en France comme la Saline Royale d’Arc-et-Senans, l’Abbaye de Fontevraud ou la Chartreuse de Villeneuve-lez-Avignon. Chacun des centres développe un domaine culturel spécifique, celui des Dominicains est dédié à la musique, les arts numériques, la performance et les arts botaniques.

Zesses Seglias is a composer of sonic bodies and lingual structures. His compositional output focuses on the relationship between the sound of voice and its semantic, as defined by language. Much of this repertoire is staged, although concert pieces also share the same principle. Latest compositional activity focuses on unifying musical and spoken language in an hybrid of sound and meaning described as spoken sound theatre.
