In the dying light of each day they gathered, the long shadows of the dojo scaffold casting darkness across the solemn faces of the keepers of their art. They spoke of he who blocked the crushing sea of extinction in the depths of each night, shielding the fragility of life with the perfection of his brutal and efficient form. The eyes of the living only greeted each new day because of the immortal techniques that had now been passed to them, the new guardians of the beacon, masters of an art now evolved – watching, waiting, perfecting their deadly art… ready for the return of those beyond death.

Following up the immensely successful Karate LP from core Eatbrain artist L 33, comes a deadly second approach to some of the most blinding tracks from the album - reimagined by a collection of apex predators in drum & bass. One of the pioneering icons within neurofunk, BTK has remained a pinnacle part of the drum & bass scene. And his imprint Dutty Audio has also helped pave the way for similar artists, bringing newcomers into fray with every slicing, hard-driving release. For their next output, they've brought on board Mizo for a ferocious rework of collaborative track 'Mind Control', a monster delivered first by Optiv & BTK.

Mizo has already made himself known within the 174bpm world as part of Gydra, a production outfit who need little introduction. Born out of Russia, his music was nurtured within its dance music culture and his remix of 'Mind Control' is a testament to this. Whilst channelling the same furious vibe as its predecessor, his take on 'Mind Control' is violently built, with every layer adding to its last alongside crashing drums peddles and an unforgiving bassline. Snow crunched lightly under his paws as he made his way across the forest floor in the still darkness. Faint light from the pale moon penetrating the depths of the woods occasionally rippled across his fur as he moved stealthily towards the perimeter. The fur around his mouth carried the stains of the many carcasses those pointed teeth had torn into as their dark-tinted red warmth slipped away beneath his fearsome frame. His blood appetite freshly sated, it was time to return to his brothers. The torn and broken light of the forest’s horizon spread across his good eye, that portal to the open plains and the mountains beyond. Smells of the forest’s life and the subtle sounds of the slowly beating hearts of its hibernating inhabitants surrounded him, each distinctly offering the promise and debt of the food they would become with the cyclic melt. His iris shrunk as he padded out into the pure white snow plain, their god, the mountain, towering above in all of its bleak awe. A frozen gust blew across his fur, carrying with it the sound of the distant bloodhowl of his kind, a twisted mournful note full of rage that resonated with his instinct, triggering adrenaline and flooding his form with anger. Quickening his pace, he darted for the pack, lips curled back against fangs that would soon let another pathetic usurper’s lifeforce spill onto nature’s coldest of blankets. The lair of the Wölfe lay ahead, his kind... connected in cruel mortality.

The fires of the NEUROPUNK FORGE alight once more with the arrival of the WARHEAD EP, the latest release from rising Russian duo DESPERSION on NEUROPUNK RECORDS. Established in 2017, the duo have seen previous releases on a variety of labels including Ignescent, 0101 and Kill Tomorrow, within which they have displayed their development of a style that blends complex melodic motifs with aggressive percussive and bassline sequences for a synthesis formed of these two often disparate sounds. Now making their NEUROPUNK RECORDS debut, DESPERSION deliver four tracks in this signature style to create the latest set of auditory weapons straight from the NEUROPUNK FORGE.

Opened by the minor chords and arpeggios of the title track of the same name, the WARHEAD EP quickly erupts with low end weight leavened by the interspersion of melodic reprisals of its opening theme. The deceptively named PEACE which follows provides a slice of scathing neurofunk marked by the tonalities of the distorted hornlike synth that blasts above its rapidly moving bassline. OFFENSIVE next delivers an explosive barrage of transient percussive impacts that fall with perfectly planned precision amongst the tracks chaotic upper atmosphere. Closing the EP is I NEED YOU NOW, which departs from the hard charging energy of its predecessors to deliver a flowing vocal cut emblematic of DESPERSION’s melodic abilities.

With the WARHEAD EP, DESPERSION deliver a dynamic debut on NEUROPUNK RECORDS, showing a deft ability to craft beautiful melodic sequences and works of utmost sonic aggression in equal measure, marking themselves as a duo to watch as they emerge from the NEUROPUNK FORGE.

Saint Petersburg natives and identical twins Alexey & Dmitry Goncharenko are 2 Drum & Bass / Hardcore producer DJ's that have made a serious mark on the scene in the last 2 years. Their interest in electronic music emerged in late 2003, and by 2007 they began to release their own productions to the delight of both fans and the label bosses they looked up to from the start of their career. With inspiration coming from producers like Technical Itch, The Panacea, Evol Intent, Cooh, Audio and Dylan. The Boys quickly found their own signature style, combining frantic breakbeats with 4/4 kickdrums and complex arrangements, resulting in a hi-voltage musical assault. They have also been instrumental in establishing the "crossbreed" sub genre across a wider audience.

The identical twins on-stage presence is unmatched in its visual aspect as well as its energy, making them a unique live show and very popular across Europe. Having worked in the industry since 16, and now at the tender age of 21, the Terrible Twins have are regulars on the Drum & Bass / Hardcore circuit, headlining regularly in places such as Estonia, Belarus, Austria, Belgium, Portugal, Poland, Hungary, Netherlands and many more. They are residents of  the bibles of dark drum and bass, and hardcore, Therapy Sessions and Prspct, and are even the promoters of both in St Petersburg. They have released tracks on Yellow Stripe, Prspct, LB and Position Chrome.
