The highlight of 2022 for me was a sunny beach party with 300 of our friends on the shores of beautiful Victoria, BC.

This is the set I played.

It's a fun, hoppin' sonic journey that starts with some favorite remixes/remakes of timeless classics and then moves into some new territory for me, verging on Bass House. Then near the end it gets melodic again featuring some other current favorites that have received regular play this summer.

So many great tracks came out this year!

Here's a collection of my favs (plus a couple older ones). The mix definitely moves around a bit stylistically: from organic vibes into more experimental territory. Same with the energy level. It's a journey.

I'd love to hear if any particular songs really resonate with you.

Summer 2023

My focus with this mix was on the groove.

How'd I do?

I found a few of these tracks by way of DJs I heard in Tulum, in January, for Zamna and Day 0 festivals.

The rest I've come across more recently, putting sets together for Otherworld, our regional burn here on Vancouver Island, in June.

I want to give a special shout out to Bryz( @comanbr), a producer with whom I've recently become smitten. Everything he makes is fantastic. I've featured two of his tracks in this mix and will be playing many more soon.

Otherworld 2024

All of this music (except the bit playing at the beginning which is by Maya Jane Coles) was generated by AI. I asked people to submit prompts. These were fed into Chat GPT for lyrics and then into Suno for the song. Before each song, I give the prompt.

This was played live at Otherworld 2024, our regional Burning Man event here on Vacouver Island.

The quality of the music is impressive. And the direction the AI went with many of the prompts is pretty hilarious.

Daydream

Diving back into house and techno after some time off: I'm 1) thoroughly enjoying the experience and 2) moving a bit further from where I was. This mix is definitely on the dubbier side.

The cover art is a pic I took of a bubble in a swimming pool in Thailand. The bottom of the pool forms the grid, and there are clouds and a palm tree in the reflection.

Here's my mix from the Cosmic Campout on NitNat lake (rerecorded). The sun had just set and the dancefloor starting to fill. The vibe was magic for me, and I love the groove that emerged. Hope you dig it too.

Swaggin

Low in frequency and high in acidity, this well-balanced blend teases the palate with its subtle notes and satisfying finish. Best enjoyed with a subwoofer, it pairs nicely with friends and dancing.

The idea for this track originally came from the old spaghetti western soundtracks, but at some point I veered back into my beloved land of electronic.

A gem from the back-catalog. It doesn't get much more "classic Gano sound" than this. Cue circus music.

He’s shared the stage with luminaries including Bonobo, Rob Garza, Deep Dish, Kenny Glasgow, Deadbeat, Junkie XL, Vandalism, and Terry Francis.
