Around this time last year we released an early creation from the emerging talent Andru titled ‘You Are’, a stirring & almost euphoric original production. Since then, the Montreal based producer has built himself an independent identity for consistent quality with varying style. This is especially true for the Bells EP, a high calibre two track release with enough drum smacks & catchy leads to induce appreciative head nodding.

Over the course of the first year of our little FKOFd imprint, we spent quite a lot of time looking back. Using past collaborations as reasons to look forward if you will. With the next few releases, we're doing things a little differently - but with the same focus on documenting the broad sound spectrum dubstep represents... 

One of the great things about FKOF these days is the number of demos we get sent. Yes, there is a lot of rubbish in the submissions, but there's also the (not so) occasional gem. FKOFd013, the first release in our second year of business, is a perfect example of uncovering these gems.

@kantyze's FKOFd013 drops 06/10/14 (exclusive to Juno for two weeks) and is available from all other good electronic retailers from 20/10/14.

"The artists behind FKOFd013 have three albums and nearly forty singles, stretching back over the last 11 years, to their name. That's quite a back catalogue - most of which is DnB. But when French producers Kantyze sent us an email full of 140 tunes, we knew they'd quickly be replicating their DnB following with an all-new dubstep fanbase.

"Igor and Frédéric have followed in the footsteps of other well-known DnB producers to bring their technical expertise to the dubstep sound. And are we excited to bring you their four track EP...

"The release opens with 'Chokey', a mythical creation full of Eastern influences, tight drumwork and a reassuringly powerful sub. 'Bring The Core', supported by the likes of Chestplate founder Distance, is the Kantyze tune we signed on the spot. Listen and you'll understand. 'Digital Reality' opens with some of the best stripped back atmospherics we've heard in ages. But don't get too comfortable, it quickly switches up and fires off some hard hitting percussion. 'Ruff' rounds off Kantyze's FKOFd013, a minimal roller that seems a fitting end to the duo's introduction to the FKOF following. 

"Kantyze have made the move from DnB to dubstep. And if they keep producing tunes like these, we reckon they'll fast become a force to reckon with..."

The Fat! Club EP 001 is the first in a new series of free mini-compilations showcasing tracks from some of the UK’s most exciting underground producers. 

Established in 1997, The Fat! Club encompasses a record label, blog, club night and management agency. This long running commitment to UK underground music has seen Chew The Fat! host arenas at festivals across the UK and Europe, monthly parties around the globe, and five consecutive summer residencies at We Love…Space Ibiza.

Now more than ever the UK underground scene is overflowing with creative minds and upfront beats, and The Fat! Club is as passionate as ever about new talent. 

This first instalment features music from Pále, who after releasing on Fat! Records and Four40 in 2012 was named one of XLR8R’s ones to watch for 2013, along with fellow Fat! cohort Wolf Cub. As one third of Transmission Collective Wolf Cub is set for a big year as their label, Transmission Audio Recordings, continues to go from strength to strength. Newcastle based Moe has been bubbling up for a while now, with forthcoming music dropping on MadTech. London based duo DE$iGNATED are already forging out a signature sound, and with some wicked collaborations in the pipeline are set for big things. Rounding off the EP are Origins Sound, a collective of DJs and producers from Bath, who’ve been causing a stir with their parties at The Porters.
