Downplay is proud to welcome aboard Manchester producer Balance to the label with his brand new release, ‘Hanoi’.

‘Hue’ sets the scene immediately with melancholy strings and plaintive chords creating an ethereal atmosphere. Intricately engineered percussion unfurls underneath to drive the track forward, as vocal snippets add an extra layer of richness to proceedings. It’s a beautifully emotional slice of garage that exudes pure class.

‘2 Nyt’ takes a more relaxed approach to the former track,interweaving sugar-sweet R&B vocals with soft pads and jazzy keys. The beat packs plenty of skip and swing into the groove alongside a classic 90s house bassline to bring everything neatly together for a sublimely uplifting garage roller.

‘Solar’ brings the tempo down a little, bridging the gap between UKG and breaks for a spaced-out rollercoaster ride of sonic delights. Rising melodies and cinematic chords add a tone of widescreen adventure to the track, showcasing a producer who’s unafraid to explore new dynamics.

Founded in 2017 by the Southampton collective, FooR, after the group revitalised the infamous ‘Pure Garage’ compilation the Garage Shared label has made it their mission to provide a platform for UK Garage producers of all shapes and sizes to release their music and develop as artists.
