Royal Flush, comprised of notables Ohjaye and Seanie C, have had a banner year between some solid releases and shows. As a final sendoff to 2018, the Birmingham-based duo is dropping a hot new EP, Thinkin’, on Four40 Records. The package is stuffed with three cuts of straight dancefloor magic.

“Come On” sets the tone for the kind of deep, grooving UKG Royal Flush crank out. They go right in with a classic garage beat and keep the old-school feel rolling throughout. Sparse but filled with personality, “Come On” is a driving track with a big bounce to it. All the perc hits the club wants to hear shuffle over a rich bassline, which is carried through classic chopped vocal samples. No pomp and flash to be found here. Royal Flush have their heads clearly aimed at getting people to start moving and stay moving.

All the elements, from sound selection to execution, were clearly crafted by hands immersed in the UKG world. You have to live, eat, and breathe this scene to crank out a track so spot-on. Royal Flush are definitely going out with bang here.

While Snips may now be based in NYC, his contributions to London’s musical landscape make him one of the most prominent heads on the scene. As founder of Barbershop Records and legendary London party Livin’ Proof, his legacy is ingrained in the capital’s sound. It’s almost surprising that ‘The Product’ comes as Snips’ first release on Classic Music Company, with his genre-defying style making a perfect fit for the label’s catalogue of evergreen dance music. A groove-heavy bassline and jaunty horns are paired with the vocals of spoken word artist William Stowe, whose mesmerising dialogue of the trials and tribulations of Hackney life give the dance cut a memorable poignancy. The release also features a remix from Italian duo Dirty Channels, who up the ante with a rumbling bass to ready ‘The Product’ for the floor. This fresher than fresh release is a Classic Music Company debut you won’t want to miss.
