The true tale of Charles Byrne, the Irish Giant. (1761–1783)
Charles' "gentle, likeable nature inspired an immense public fondness, and his celebrity life was constantly splashed across the newspapers of the day. Byrne's great height was the result of a then-undiscovered growth disorder.
Byrne was living in London at the same time as the pre-eminent surgeon and anatomist John Hunter. Hunter had a reputation for collecting unusual specimens for his private museum, and Hunter had offered to pay Byrne for his corpse. As Byrne's health deteriorated, and knowing that Hunter wanted his body for dissection (a fate reserved at that time for executed criminals) and probable display, Byrne devised a plan. He made express arrangements with friends that when he died his body would be sealed in a lead coffin and taken to the coastal town of Margate and then to a ship for burial at sea. Byrne's wishes were thwarted and his worst fears realised when Hunter arranged for the cadaver to be snatched on its way to Margate."

Jeremiah and the Moon

Jeremiah was very young to be singing to the moon
and everybody wondered how he'd learnt so much, so soon

It had barely been four seasons since he came into our care
as his mother somehow faded into a deep and dark despair

Veronique spread lightness in the kingdom of the day
but life contrived some bitterness in its classic, cold, ballet

When transpirational powers took her lover from her side
her skin turned pale, her eyes were black, she cried, she cried, she cried.....




Jeremiah came to us then, a thoughtful serious child
to learn of incantations to the spirits of the wild

We explored the deepest meanings of the wondrous world of art
and the existential leanings of the life that is our part





The citizens absolved themselves from any present shame
by nominating leaders to relieve them of the blame

and upon mid summer evening they would gather on the moor
to sing the songs of solstice , welcome all the coming year




Jeremiah knew his role, lifting his eyes to heaven
His infant voice he offered up, in innocent intercession

A weighty price, it may seem to us, for his selfless benediction
Yet his face remained beatific, circumscribing our condition

That the innocent shall pay the price, is the bargain we have made
The population is now content, till next mid summer day

The head sounds so great with all the harmonies from Georg's multiple bari sax lines - almost a big band sound -  Harry's tight layers and Manuel's beautiful bouncing bass.  Harry kicks into a little electricity and we all sit back to groove.  Follow these superb players.  Always a thrill to be with each of them and great to have the world sound.... Accipitriformes Accipitridae bird . One of the largest among the ones named Taka. In particular, Japanese subspecies are large and fine. The total length is 70 to 80 cm, and the wing opening reaches 150 cm, but the one in the south is small. With Japan as the northern limit, it is distributed in southeastern China, the Himalayas, parts of India, Sri Lanka, and Southeast Asia. It prefers to live in forests, especially coniferous forests.

13 The Wolf In The Fairytale

Inspired by a hike to the Pico Ruivo on the portuguese Island of Madeira with my son David.  When it is cloudy at the sea level and you pass the low level clouds on the way up to the summit then you feel like heaven's gate is opening and you look the from the mountain tops down to the sea of clouds. The spirit of the olympic gods seems so close (except that Greece is not just around the corner ;) ).

My name is Rayna and I host a radio show on VOWR.ca (VOWR 800AM if you’re on the Island) It is a wonderful all volunteer Radio Station celebrating 100 YEARS on the air in 2024  We are located in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada.  

I started a new show called the “The Unsigned Radio Hour” where I give artists from SoundCloud and other venues a chance to have their songs heard on the radio.
