Warpaint - Feeling Alright (Daughter Remix)

Today Wild Beasts release two previously unheard tracks entitled Soft Future and Blood Knowledge. Over the past couple of months Wild Beasts and Parisian animator Mattis Dovier have been working together to create an interactive GIF-novel (po.st/SFNovel) to accompany Soft Future and Blood Knowledge. The project forms part of The Jameson Works. You can watch the band creating the GIF novel and read an article about the project in Creative Review (po.st/GIFCreativeReview).

Folkroom Records to launch free sampler ‘Folkroom Presents: Anthology One’.

On December 17th Folkroom Records are set to release their first album, ‘Folkroom
Presents: Anthology One’. The album contains tracks from artists who have played at the label's night at The Queen's Head in Kings Cross, and will be supported by a launch party at the venue on the evening of the 17th.

Meret ist eine Ausnahmekünstlerin. Als Schauspielerin genießt sie einen international makellosen Ruf. Zu ihren jüngsten Kinofilmen gehören “Boxhagener Platz” und gerade abgedreht: ‘Die Quellen des Lebens’ von Oskar Roehler. Ihre Liebe aber gilt auch der guten Musik. Als Sängerin und Musikerin versetzt sie ihr Publikum regelmäßig in den Himmel der Verzückung. Meret steppt und schwingt, ihre Virtuosität an der singenden Säge ist legendär, die Magie ihrer feinen Bühnenpräsenz grenzt an Trickbetrug.

Zu ihren Partnern auf der Bühne zählten schon Nina Hagen und Max Raabe. Sie singt klassischen Schönberg, wie in ‘Pierrot Lunaire’ unter der Leitung des Stardirigenten Kent Nagano in der Berliner Philharmonie und hat für die Komposition der Musik zu dem Film ‘Pipermint – das Leben möglicherweise’ den Max-Ophüls Preis verliehen bekommen.

Als hochgeschätzter Gast lieh sie ihre Stimme Bands wie Ars Vitalis, den Einstürzenden Neubauten, BAP und Sportfreunde Stiller.Im Herbst 2009 gründet sie Meret & The Tiny Teeth, aktuell mit dabei sind mit Buddy Sacher (Gitarre/Bajo), Peter Wilmanns (Blasinstrumente/percussion), Chloe Miller (Cello) und Ben Jeger (Glasharfe).Als Instrumentarium dienen neben handelsüblichen Geräten auch Instrumente, die man im Allgemeinen eher von Musikclowns oder Jahrmärkten her kennt. Vorgetragen wird ein Repertoire aus Eigenkompositionen und Coverversionen, von traditionellen Volksmusiken über Zirkusmusik bis hin zu Evergreens. Gesungen wird in allen Sprachen, auch gern mal gleichzeitig.

Auf dem Programm steht also das Seltsame und das schaurig Schöne. Mit ihrem Ensemble spielt Meret das Publikum in eine andere Welt und inszeniert „einen Rausch der Sinne, (…) eine spielerische, naive Verrücktheit, die an der Ordnung der Dinge nagt.“
