I originally wanted to make a faster, drum-and-bass-y version, but that just didn't work out - at one point I accidentally dropped the tempo to half and I liked the groove enough to finish it that way.
There are a couple of weird samples in there which might need explanation: Variform, as it is known, is heavily influenced by Imatran Voima's track "In/Out", which I decided to sample back into the a Variform remix, just to back-reference the original.

"Walking Through the Night" is inspired by the 28-day cycle of the moon around the earth. A cycle almost the entire world is orchestrated by. The ocean's tides. Life cycles. Recurring emotions. The repetitive nature of the verses is part of that cycle. "Once in a Blue Moon".

Maybe it's only obvious to me, but I always imagined that most of my funky / bluesy / jam session tracks are played by the same band, faffing about while waiting for that diva singer to show up.

The goal of resurrecting this old track was to give the solo lead a more robust backing, and the organ accomplished that quite nicely. The solos are pretty much untouched, except for some vibrato and note length tweaks. This was also a great excuse to dive into Harmor resynthesis, importing the actual single-cycle waveforms used in the XM.

All in all, I think the band has matured a lot since 1996, wouldn't you agree? =)
