Wah Wah 45s are proud to present their debut Record Store Day special release!

In 2014 the label celebrates not only its 15th anniversary, but, with this record, its 50th seven-inch release, and it’s something very unique indeed.

Two of the imprints best love artists, East End brass juggernaut Hackney Colliery Band, and funky Canadian piano maestro Henri-Pierre Noel come together on seven inches of wax for the first time, remixed by label boss Scrimshire and superstar disco re-edit king The Reflex.

Scrimshire’s re-working of HCB’s version of Kanye West’s All Of The Lights is a horn fuelled left-of-centre club bomb, whilst The Reflex’s ‘revision’ of Henri’s classic Diskette is a disco fuelled take that’s sure to cause plenty of dance floor devastation too.

Having both on one slab of strictly limited heavyweight vinyl with gorgeous, bespoke artwork to celebrate the label’s 50th seven-incher is almost too much! Enjoy!

Alex Puddu comes back in full force with an amazing LP starring the legendary singer Joe Bataan.

A new project that follows the two volumes of  “The Golden Age of Danish Pornography” and “Registrazioni al Buio” and definitively establishes Alex’s trademark sound: a spicy blend of groove, 70’s sound with cinematic atmoshperes. A vintage production which reminds of Italian soundtrack production of that period.The album features the King of Latin Soul, Joe Bataan, which sings on “ The Mover”,“ 50.000 Women Cant’be wrong and “ Love Talk”.

Joe Bataan founded his first band in 1965, merging genres such as Boogaloo and African America Doo-Wop. He is a co-founder of Salsoul Records, named after the style he contributed to create. Among the many highlights of his career “Rap o Clap” and “Mestizo” deserve a special mention: this songs are in fact considered the first Hip-Hop songs ever. Many others have become iconic tracks: his cover of “The Bottle”, “Latin Strut”, “Johnny”, “Subway Joe”, and many many others.

Soul Tiger is the more dancefloor oriented of Alex’s works – here he tried to perfectly recreate the atmospheres of the late seventies work by Joe Bataan, a sound we might label as early Disco-Funk.

"sound of the east side" - Der Name ist nicht ohne Grund gewählt. Die meisten Songs oder Edits aus diesem Set sind von Künstlern aus dem mitteldeutschen Raum. Ich möchte damit nicht auf irgendeinem alten Thema rumreiten. Dennoch fand ich es cool mal ein Set zu basteln welches aus Songs, meistens sogar von Fruneden, besteht. Respekt an die Acts, an die Urheber von welchen im Set  Edits laufen, an alle die Musik toll finden. Macht weiter so :-)
