He says he stopped counting his record collection at around the 12,000 mark! This is just a micro dose of just what XDB has to offer and It's an honour and a privilege to get this out on our albion tapes series and start the year in style!

@XDB, the founder of the Metrolux music label, is one of Germany’s most respected DJs. Kosta Athanassiadis is a long-standing institution as a Dj and Producer with a significant collection of timeless productions and memorable remixes. 

XDB has his roots in the central German town of Göttingen. It was there that he began DJing in the early nineties, where he worked in a record shop and where he ran a radio show for five years. And that was the base from which he established the Metrolux record label back in 2006.

For many people, it was at this point that XDB appeared on their radar. His debut ‘Jackintosh EP’ and the following ‘Descap EP’ made a splash. Kosta’s DJ sets draw upon his expansive record collection, playing right across the board of electronic music. His DJing keeps him in the public eye, but one gets the sense that XDB prefers to operate in the shadows.

@revoltathens was brought to life in 2013 with the purpose to satisfy people’s craving for immersive experiences with electronic music and other forms of art.

In 2014, the crew started a record label and six years later, took a big step forward and opened a hybrid-record shop with new and second-hand records. This space is meant to be used in the most creative yet practical way, to showcase artists and their talent, organize live shows and small exhibitions.

His productions, remixes, and edits never stray far from the crates or conversations around tracks with an incredible groove, or that age so so well. Not only to add to the quality are the breadth of releases that he’s accrued over the years. Working through ambient, to breaks and minimal house and back again. You can just tell how his passion for the craft is the guiding hand.

As with his productions, his selections for today are top notch, leading to one of those mixes that will keep your head nodding along for the duration. Full to the brim with that signature dance ready style that we’ve come to know and love with the Italian DJ and producer.

He dreamt that he was flying around from flower to flower and while he was dreaming he felt free, blown about by the breeze hither and thither. He was quite sure that he was a butterfly. But when he awoke he realised that he had just been dreaming, and that he was really Chuang Tzu dreaming he was a butterfly. But then Chuang Tzu asked himself the following question: "was I Chuang Tzu dreaming I was a butterfly or am I now really a butterfly dreaming that I am Chuang Tzu?"
