Two years ago Indianapolis' beloved Duck Trash (@ducktrash) gave us all a hefty dose of Chemical X (#136). For this month's installation on Refuge Worldwide, they're bringing their genre-spanning sound for a very electric journey through house, techno and electro 📡🌐🌼

Indianapolis-based artist Duck Trash is a queer techno & electro selector who believes in the healing powers of the dancefloor. They illustrate the full range of human emotion in each otherworldly heavy dance mix. They are passionate about the queer roots of rave culture and strive to ensure that raves remain a space of queer liberation.

Refuge Worldwide is a Berlin-based independent, community radio station working in solidarity with grassroots and non-profit organizations.

This is Duck Trash’s set from Tomorrow’s Fires, a party celebrating the release of Erika’s “Anevite Void” album on February 25, 2023. Mix theme: After getting abducted by aliens, one must learn how to adapt & grow plants on an unfamiliar planet in outer space.

It’s hard to overstate the transformative power of the American Underground. Things get lost when it’s just a systematic big business, all these special things that make the core essence so powerful and palpable. IT first encountered @ducktrash when BMG played for them in Indianapolis last September with Noncompliant at this exquisite dive bar called State Street Club with the most open minded crowd. It wasn’t what it looked like, it really transcended time and space. “Duck Trash is a queer techno & electro selector who believes in the healing power of the dance floor.” We couldn’t agree more, and we’re so glad they got to do their Detroit debut at Erika’s album release party. They are part of the fabric that makes the midwest so amazing, the true underground freaks.

We’ve had some incredible sets played at the Community Function parties over the past few years so we thought we’d create a new mix series to relive those moments. First up on Community Function Live we have a mix from Amino recorded live at our party at the Pocket Change rooftop on August 2nd. Amino took control of the dance floor from the very start and had us locked in with her signature rolling basslines and textured percussions, we knew right away this was the mix we wanted to share with you all. Hope you enjoy it as much as we did :)

“Finishing my first run to NY & ATL I truly felt like this was going to be homecoming of sorts. Flew home with an abundance of inspiration and a strive to simply find comfortability and curiosity with my dancers. When preparing I kept in mind what would feel good in the sun overlooking Gratiot.  The feeling of excitement when I arrived home into a warm embrace of this community is a core memory of summer 2025. 

I’ve always wanted to play a Community Function and I truly feel like we all created this set to be what it was.
