'Psycho-Acoustic Principles For The Dancefloor' is a record emancipated from the overload of information that led me spiralling into a schizophrenic over-thinking lately in my music. 'Outsider' has a pureness of confidence which celebrates the last 10 years of isolation away from the European scene, while contained just under its surface is a sense of melancholy which points to the paradox within myself. I believe effective dance- music plays with these human paradoxes, and in a time when the mask of confidence is amplified and commodified, music should tease out the human truth. I hope this record captures something essential which goes beyond the structural. If possible, I hope that it breaks down barriers and preconceptions as it delivers roses and intimacy into a place which allows the spirit to sing.

French producer, DJ and Recit De Voyage label owner Molly joins the roster of Philipp Priebe’s Stólar imprint this June with her ‘On The Road Again’ EP, accompanied by remixes from Dial co-founder Lawrence and Dial artist Soela.

Philipp Priebe’s Stólar label has continued to move from strength to strength over the past few years with numerous acclaimed releases from the label boss himself plus further additions to the catalogue from Japan’s Metome, the UK’s Yard One and Feuilleton’s Tim Eder & Fossar. Here the label welcomes Molly onto its roster, the French artist’s material has found its way onto the likes of Giegling, Dial, Cin Cin, Kilometro 4.5 and her own RDV (Recit De Voyage) over the past few years.

The original mix of title-track ‘On The Road Again’ opens and embraces Molly’s signature deep and hypnotic sonic aesthetic via dreamy pads, nuanced bass tones and shuffled drums. ‘Infinity Love’ follows, and shifts focus to bright keys, ethereal strings and crisp drums.

Up next is the first of two remixes of ‘On The Road Again’ from Lawrence, as always from the German producer we’re treated to a subtly unfurling and intricate journey through cosseting melodies, bumpy bass notes and dreamy textures. Soela’s ‘Reprise’ mix of ‘Infinity Love’ comes next, as the name would suggest the Russian producer delivers a cinematic ambient twist on the original before Lawrence’s ‘Remix 2’ concludes via off-kilter drums and intertwined melodious fragments of the original cut.

The Swindlers return and not a minute too soon as far as we’re
concerned!  The hardest working duo in house music have had a
mental couple of years playing every club and festival known to
man, having babies, seemingly buying up the entire stock of vintage
studio gear off ebay and thankfully knocking out some banging tunes
on top of all that.  Well all club bangers gratefully received here
at Freerange so with open arms and ears we’re happy to be bringing
you the Figure Of Speech EP.
Just as the non-believers think they know what to expect from these two they’ve thrown a rather large curveball and headed down a different road. Figure Of Speech wears some African influences on its sleeve with a bumping party groove punctuated by some nifty
afro beat keys stabs and just a hint of acid. Victoria’s Secret
treads more familiar Detroit Swindle territory with the boys trademark shuffling beats and larger-than-life side-chained pads bringing the drama. Finally, we have suitably titled Live At The Cosmic Carnival where we’re treated to some peaktime tribal business with rolling bass, dubbed out dancehall science and some nifty conga work. All in all, some fiyah for the dancefloor from a pair of lads who know a thing or two about how to get a room jumping.

Lyon beatsmith Saint Paul made an impressive full debut in 2017 with his Introspection EP on Moonrise Hill Material (which he co-runs with his boys Folamour, Ethyène and Kaffe Crème). After tasty contributions to V/As on the likes of Apparel Wax and FHUO, the Frenchman is back with another solo record on DC’s Better Listen Records.

The Naturist Behavior EP is a tastefully balanced, warm-weather oriented four tracker. The title track and the A2, “A Hawaiian Trip”, explore playful and jazzy territories. Meanwhile, the flip hosts moodier ventures via the bittersweet boogie of “Tell Me” and the ice cold late night jam, “Feels Good”.
