Dobro's 11th outing is a wonderfully exotic collection of disco and adjacent grooves to keep some late summer sun burning whenever you hit play. Beard In Dust kicks off with 'Ambivalent Intelligence Dub' which is a nice laid-back and jazzy downtempo delight, Scruscru layers up some flower power melodies of swaying house grooves and Classonix delivers a pair of beauties that up the energy with some tropical disco. Lavrutz then heads to South America for some Latin steaminess on 'Moanin' (Ye Samba),' and collaborates on two further cuts that bring Afro influences.

Find a better bassline this year and I'll eat my hat. Lyon's @mike-parton-officieux comes up trumps on this track from his and his brother Danny's 'Extraball' EP on @pommefriterec with a sublime recreation of late '90s French touch filter disco, serving up an insanely funky bassline along with a jaunty, filtered horn sample and a chewy phaser sound that's one of the best Daft Punk imitations I've ever heard. Tremendous.

Pete Blaker has been making head-turning (or rather head-nodding) moves of late and he continues his run of form on the excellently named Funkyjaws Music label. This fourth instalment in the Discolifting series kicks off with 'Zulu', a nice fat-bottomed and dubby Afro disco sound with a super sweet vocal and some funky guitar riffs. 'Instrumental' then steps out with more widescreen synths and snappy low ends with more than a hint of 'Bakerman' groove goodness. 'See The Light' is lavish and bright disco with 80s synths and 'Heaven' closes with a more subdued and introspective sound.
