The second release before the upcoming mighty new Sven Väth album “Catharsis” gives you another hint at what ́s coming at you! Let us tell you, we couldn ́t be more excited for everyone to finally experience Sven ́s new masterpiece!
But before we unleash the beast, we decided to release a second single. This time containing two absolute highlight tracks. If you have heard Sven playing in the past months, you will recognize both, as they were pivotal moments in almost every set!
First up we have “Mystic Voices“, a track that was created during the early stages of the album production with Sven gathering ideas and words to finally record the unmistakable vocals during a hectic tour through India, and Gregor spending days and nights on the other side of the planet in his studio to process the stream of inspiration. When the two finally sat down together in the studio, the track emerged quickly. Some would call the instant vibe that magic that every creative mind is longing to find.
“Butoh” is a raw and dark force, influenced by Japanese dance, an art form that deeply touched Sven during his travels on Nippon Island. It ́s an otherworldly sounding track, still based in the Techno Realm but heavily twisted by a long break that introduces Japanese percussions that eventually get topped by the haunting vocals of Cana Hatsushiba.

Time Under Tension is the aptly named debut release from Anthony Jimenez, an artist/ DJ who has really evolved his craft since relocating to Detroit in 2012 where his dark, driving techno sets have been a feature of Blank Code events and podcasts. In the opening track, Eternal, the only percussion you will hear is the occasional clang of metal on metal being churned through effects designed to exploit hidden resonant harmonics. Layered dissonant synths create a thick drone that carries through the track, creating some real head bending textures. Dissonance brings a heavy atmosphere that really stands out against it's straightforward kick and minimal percussion. Sharp stabs mutate as they echo into each other and trail off into the darkness.  Conflict balances a funky kick with on point hats and haunting synths that resonate from background to foreground as heavily reverberated bursts of noise get stuck in the track's dubby delay line.

Hypertrophy is Detroit style Techno at it's finest. A warehouse-worthy kick and hats on the ups support the ring modulated percussion that forms the track's loopy hook, with crunchy claps coming in only when needed. Guaranteed to bring energy to any atmosphere.  Non Compliant is an intense atmosphere builder. Textural peaks and valleys are held together by driving techno rhythms and a deep low kick that will challenge any subwoofer.  Rounding out the EP is Sinaloa, which uses a rhythmic hard hitting kick to bring in haunting sounds and voices. Well programmed effects create poly-rhythms that melt into the atmosphere of the track. Great for the dancefloor or a night drive through the city.

Illusions has a superb leading bass hook with tribal elements sprinkled over a more stomping low foundation. Both submissions provide examples of the Londoner's capability to push those clean, heavy hitting productions.

Young UK based producer Cleric has established himself not only as a bonafide new talent and key player in the International Techno world, but also as a prolific artist on Figure.

Now well known for his crisp, deadly club tracks and rich melancholic ambient studies, in this fifth single for the label he explores his hard-hitting yet luxurious sound ever further.

What's immediate about the four tracks on offer here is Cleric's extremely powerful, yet masterfully controlled bass frequencies. Coupled with his addictive, smart and dark 90s-reminiscent synth hooks, we're left with an array of stomping, percussive weapons primed for expansive spaces and killer sound systems.

Take opener He Comes For You, a muscular example of a dynamic and spacious building block, keeping the energy leveled and ready to move wherever it may be needed. Coming in a close second, Taal nods towards housy structures, clocking in a fast and playful attitude within a strict techno‘s framework.

Sofra is harnessing the anthemic power of trance-style synths while not overplaying the old school card in favor of letting Poncet‘s slick sound design do its work. Multifaceted artist Patrick Mason and Rekids boss Matt Edwards return with their next release as SRVD, entitled ‘Black On Black’.

Since teaming up two years ago, Matt Edwards (Radio Slave) and Patrick Mason have continued to blur the lines between pounding techno and live avant-garde performance under their SRVD alias. Following performances in Barcelona, Melbourne, Berlin London and Tokyo, and with support from the likes of Sven Väth, Rodhad, Chris Liebing, Laurent Garnier and many more. The formidable duo now return to their home imprint, Rekids, with two tracks both recorded in Bordeaux in 2019, using only analogue gear, before being arranged and mixed in Berlin.

‘Black On Black’ opens with thundering percussion, rising synths, rattling cymbals and alluring vocals from Patrick which elevates the energy and leads you into delightful darkness. On the flip, ‘USB’ pulses with a Roland SH 101 bassline and deep kicks while Patrick’s haunting vocal-work causes an unsettling rhythm that propels you into a warehouse space.
