It's a Dub ting!

It isn't easy to describe the sound of dub music in philosophical terms because it is a subjective experience that can be interpreted differently by different people. However, using echo and reverb in dub music creates a sense of space and openness, reflecting philosophical ideas about the nature of existence and the vastness of the universe. The heavy use of bass and electronic instruments is also a reflection of modern philosophical ideas about technology and its role in shaping our world experience. Ultimately, the philosophical significance of dub music will depend on the individual listener and their interpretation of the music.
This set may pose more questions than answers, but some things are clear. It's a creative and masterful journey into dub.

Elistratov is a DJ and collector of electronic music and a supporter of exclusively vinyl sound. In each Elistratov set, you can instantly recognize his style, sustained over the years, where a soft atmospheric-melodic component, aesthetically woven into the technical rigour of a rhythmic pattern, creates a truly unique structure for the flight of his exclusive mixes.

Hamburg’s Polycarp Records delivers the ‘Never Ever’ EP by Bonn this January, backed with remixes from Johannes Albert and The Cruiser. 

The Polycarp Records imprint was launched in 2016 by Simon Ferdinand and across its past ten releases has unveiled an array of material from the likes of Pleasant Systems boss Tilman, Frank Music founder Johannes Albert and Simon Ferdinand and Basch both under their own artist names and of course their collaborative project, Bonn. In 2019 Ferdinand and Basch inaugurated their Bonn guise with a debut album entitled ‘Forget Forgot Forgotten’, 2021 saw the release of a follow up EP entitled ‘Ravenous’ and here the story continues with the pair’s latest collaborative works.

‘Phero’ opens the flip side and sees Bonn deliver a twitchy house workout fuelled by fidgety synth bleeps, dubbed out chords and bumpy, saturated drums.

Never Ever EP is already out on vinyl and will be available digital on January 23 via Polycarp Records

While he was starting his DJ career, our whole collective was just chillin' in kindergarten. Since 2004, he has been indelibly linked with Vivacity club nights on the Bukanýr boat. In 2020 he co-founded the label of the same name. His middle name could be HOUSE, or perhaps PRAŽSKÝ HAUS?

In the eighties, all the boys and many girls had a crush on Kim Wilde. Cosmic Force was no different. By covering her hitsingle Cambodia, the Dutch producer comes clean of his childhood love. His slinky vocoder version has the same coolness that stuck to miss Wild back then, and we think it fits perfectly in a post disco-set by the likes of Intergalactic Gary, Legowelt or Cosmic Force himself.

Fragment całonocnego seta b2b nagranego z @mazewski we wrocławskim Uczuleniu. Klasyczna djska sytuacja z padającą baterią w recorderze nie pozwoliła nagrać więcej. Nagrywka ta dość dobrze oddaje jednak muzyczny klimat tej nocy.

Just over an hour fragment of an all-night b2b set recorded in Wrocław's Uczulenie. The classic dj situation with a falling battery in the recorder did not allow to record more. However, this recording quite well reflects the musical atmosphere of that night.

Steffen Heitzler also known as Daikatana, began his musical journey at the age of 15, initially immersed in the world of vinyl and hard techno. By 23, he secured a year-long residency at the Liquidclub in Freiburg, where he showcased a diverse range of sounds from house to tech house. It wasn't until he turned 33 that he ventured into music production, channeling his passion into creating original tracks. Daikatana has since released his music on notable labels including WctW, Blackdisk Records, Echoing Emi, Purple Fly Records, Saman Records, Headfire International, and Suicide Robot.
