Gasworks presents 'Out of an instance of expiration comes a perennial showing', the first UK solo exhibition by Los Angeles-based artist Gala Porras-Kim. 

With a focus on the British Museum’s vast collection of funerary art from ancient Egypt and Nubia, Porras-Kim examines the institutional afterlife of ceremonial objects and human remains displayed inside museum vitrines or assembled in storages, thinking through alternative ways of negotiating between the museum’s agenda and the invisible forces governing the eternal rest of their original owners.

Alessio has been working with Gasworks for many years – starting off as a volunteer, he has helped to make it a major organisation in London for the development of artists – not only from the UK but from other emerging markets. 

Alessio explains what Gasworks offers in terms of its studio spaces and galleries along with its residency programmes and fellowships.
