1986 darkwave, minimal electro band from Rochester, New York. The lineup was James Tabbi (vocals, acoustic guitar), Jeff Gallea (bass, drum programs, vocals, keyboard), Jack Schaefer (electric guitar) and Dan Brumley (synths, samples, vocoder, melodica). They released the "Bas Relief" LP in 1986, only 500 silkscreened and hand numbered copies of the record were made which are now extremely sought after by minimal synth enthusiasts. This gem has a wonderful low-tech warm driving synth sound that is infectious. The vocals are haunting and the bass lines remind of Joy Division. Almost every song is killer dark post-punk or electronic synth wave. They seemed to take cues from Echo and the Bunnymen, early New Order, Fad Gadget, and Depeche Mode. Songs like Watching Trees, Tears and Cinnamon, Portugal, Ignorant Father, and Temporal deserve to be heard. Timeless."

I'm Obsessed With U

KAP is a combo between Knekelhuis and Bordello A Parigi. We love italian producer Alessandro Parisi (aka Hesperius Draco) which we invited to a party we co-organized in Batofar alongside Mick Wills some years ago. When we heard he would be involved in a new project called "Dynamite Winter Palace" with London based Timothy J Fairplay, another fave of us, we were eagerly looking forward to hear it. They found themselves in the middle of an ice cold world, opening their wintery project with the “Romance” soundtrack here premiered. The warm synth lines will single handedly set Moscow’s frozen red square on fire, epic ! Vinyl is out 15th february, go for it !

The rocket ships were loaded, the heat was on and the race was all set to begin. They were sat in the cockpit of the sfire space station, it floated observationally above the race course. Waiting to film every detail, the streams were set and the countdown had begun. This was a great test for mankind, a special test. As they watched from the sfire they glazed down upon the planets below, how could they stay afloat with such little care as to what lay in the skies above them.

Neon was formed in Florence during the 1980s by Marcello Michelotti (aka neoONE, vox and synth), and Stefano Gasparinetti Fuochi (aka neoTWO, synth). Their first single "Informations of Death" encapsulated their visionary mix of gothic elements with new wave, synth pop, rock and dance. The single was originally released as a limited edition of 500 copies, with gatefold cover and poster insert, and later appeared on the band's only LP release, Rituals, released in 1985.

Alessio Natalizia of WALLS (Kompakt) has included "Informations of Death" in his connoisseur's selection of fringe Italian electronic music of the 80s on his Mutazione compilation, set to be released on Strut Records this August.

Neon - "Informations of Death"

Been blogging, music sharing, etc. for a while now (see blog under this name) & DJing since 1982. I like all kinds of music.

Most of my playlists are not organized & just hold songs I'm interested in, many of which I haven't listened to yet. The "freeform current listening" playlist is as it says & will be updated regularly. Many of my reposts were unintentional, they were just random tracks I was trying to add to a playlist using my phone & I've got clumsy fingers.
