Downplay is proud to present ‘Skin’, the brand new EP from Birmingham production duo Royal Flush.

Kicking off the imprint in style, ‘Skin’ employs a well-loved vocal set to a skittering 2-step groove, chopping bars against subtly melodic keys and intricately deployed percussion, before then letting the rhythm hit you in a 4x4 switch-up on the second drop to really raise the roof.

‘Got My Self Together’ mines similar soulful material, pitching a diva vocal sample alongside soothing chords and glittering FX to mesmerizing effect.

‘Hold Me Down’ alters the template again with a summertime jam complete with sensual vocals, bubbling basslines and a classic UKG beat that brings the whole track together beautifully.

‘Open Arms’ is a magical track - equal parts soothing synths and languorous vocals sprinkled over a robust 2-step groove, that slowly unfolds into a 4x4 piano roller. It’s the kind of track that is easy to get lost in - every component compliments the others with beguiling results.

‘Horizon’ takes you even deeper, rolling beats underpinning a truly spellbinding journey that is equal parts cinematic and emotive. Garage tracks like this are rare to come by these days - something that takes the template and twists it into new shapes.

‘Deja Vu’ rolls out on lush piano keys and sugar sweet vocals with a firing breakbeat foundation for something totally refreshing, before unfurling with an orchestral grandiosity that showcases just how versatile this new artist really is.

Then Jay Barrett steps in to deliver a masterful vocal performance - his sonorous tones complimenting the melody so well you’ll be singing along yourself in no time. Limita has raised the bar for the new UKG scene with a track that will see repeated play on radio and discerning dancefloors across the globe.

Fresh off the heels of our 2nd release - Blue Cookie EP - Gather Records are back with Binary Cuts; four heavyweight steppers guaranteed to dismember any dancefloor courtesy of the dynamic duo: On1 and ZeroFG.

A1 “Push” wastes no time getting into some heavyweight, early 00’s style, rib-shattering bass-weight, whilst “Knee Deep” builds the tension to the absolute maximum before letting loose in the fashion that these guys are all too good at.
Over on the flip, the jittering technoid/proto-dubstep style rhythms of “Vexed” seems as though they’re almost designed to bring out the wiggiest moves from dancers with the B2 cut “Final Round” perfectly closing off the EP with skippy beats and spacey atmospherics perfectly primed for those late hour zoners.

These two talented guys have been right at the forefront of the garage resurgence delivering deep, dark rollers that never fail to make you give the gun finger salute and we're very honoured to have them on the label!
