December 2020 Discoveries.

Many people simply want to hear and enjoy some great new music without having to waste time searching for hours. These Musical Discoveries collections aim to fulfil those needs. At least, we hope so! :)

This playlist is a compilation of the favourite musical discoveries of the Wud Records team from everything they heard at SoundCloud during December 2020.

Tracks have been arranged according to the number of plays at the time of publishing, starting with the fewest. Tracks that are early in playlists tend to receive more plays than later tracks, and we feel that the ones with fewer plays need the best chance of exposure.

This playlist is extremely eclectic, so if the track you are playing isn't quite doing it for you, try the next one. It will probably be completely different.

If you enjoyed listening to something here, please give it a like and a repost. Follow the artist. Give them a shoutout on social media. Check out some of their other tracks. Buy something from them and your support will help them to keep going. Doing any of this will help raise their profile. At the very least you might make their day. :)

Winter Stars

I was deeply saddened by the passing of Keith Emerson. It has been a very difficult few months. We’ve lost several giants. This is a very short but potent homage I wrote for Keith several years ago. I am so sorry that I never got to share it with him. He was a giant as a pianist, organist and synthesist. His playing was outstanding and he gave us so much great music for nearly fifty years.

Magpie is part of Ayala's new album project fusing Mexican folk music with her brand of British jazz infused pop music.  Ayala will be releasing one new song from this album every month in 2019.  The album will feature some incredible collaboration features and duets with Mexican artists including names such as Horacio Palencia, Los Rumberos, El David Aguilar and more tbc.  Ayala is British / Irish, and working with Mexican / British producer and co-writer Juan Luis Ayala to form this new Latin-fusion 'World Music' sound.  Magpie was released on all major digital platforms 18th Jan 2019.

Looking back at my musical influences and I guess the most was ELP ,  Keith Emerson, Robert Berry,  and so many more .  It all started at 14 years of age for me.  But learning to play, and continuing to do so just a few years ago.    And though I will never be in that distinctive class I try and learn and learn... Track 8 from the album "B Sides, Alternates and Other Songs" ......... a collection of 10 songs written or recorded during the making of my "For the Stars" album in 2019 but didn't make the album.......releasing one song monthly thru October 2020!

"For the Stars (alternate)" is the original version that I intended for my album of the same name. I was part way thru the recording and decided I wanted it in a different key so never went any further with this version. In hindsight, it was probably just fine in G. The final version (also on SoundCloud here: https://soundcloud.com/lenaloise/for-the-stars) was recorded in the key of A ....you decide!

A piece written in the quiet and calm of the early hours. Born out of the frustration and anguish of sleep deprivation. This is a slow and pensive piece with many rises and falls. The last fall is, to sleep.
