These are songs I created in Songwriting Class (MUSI 162). Included is a video game song cover, a musical/film song arrangement, an original, and a collaborative original.

1. Morning Sky/Sound of the Wind: This is the opening song to "Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles," specifically the original one for the GameCube. I love how they incorporated instruments/sounds from the medieval and renaissance periods to fit the setting of the game. Music by Kumi Tanioka, Sung by Donna Burke

2. A Million Dreams: This song is from "The Greatest Showman," following P.T. Barnum's(Hugh Jackman)life from childhood to adulthood, when he marries Charity(Michelle Williams). I think it's fun to follow these characters' aspirations in life, and it does a great job setting up the plot. Music by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, Sung by Ziv Zaifman, Hugh Jackman, Michelle Williams

3. Remember the Sun: This is my first published original piece. I had trouble putting it together at first, but when a friend gave me the idea to figure out a purpose for it, putting this together only took a few days. The short version: "If I could only tell someone one thing, I'd tell them that life is worth living."

4. We are Alive: This is a collaborative piece I wrote and performed with John, Rob, and Larry. All of us had a lot of different talents and musical backgrounds, but Rob somehow managed to come up with a genre that fit us all! After Larry found a flute loop to start us off, he and John worked on instrumentals while I came up with the lyrics. For this song, we came up with the theme of a "warrior."

Life moves at a fast pace, and ceasing the moment for expression and adventure can ground us into that pace in a way that feels satisfying. This song is written about a call towards free spiritedness. If we choose to be in Love with each moment, there is so much beauty that lies within. We are working illusively in a material world, which can be inspiring rather than stunting.
