4 years ago I visited my brother. I walked in the door of his house hear he's got an old trance set on that him and his friend were listening to. Just as this set is ending I hear this big-punchy uplifting trance tune kick in, and it turns out to be by none other than the two Prog-Trance legends Gabriel & Dresden. After re-listening to the tune about 10 times I decided, I'm having a go at that. Went back home that weekend and churned this out in 24 hours. Now, I've been sitting on this for QUITE SOME TIME now, so it's long overdue that I share it with you people. So here's a modern Prog take on a Trance classic, enjoy x

Across darkened velvet skies, "Almesian" burns brightly through the music of Golan Zocher and Greenage. Above South American and Indian continents complex constellations of sound are reflected in intricate percussive rhythms and galloping bassline. The title track 'Canacona' is a brooding and hypnotic affair, with textural and spacious vibes ebbing and flowing from the off, as the subtle melodics flow, creating tension and anticipation. Where deepness meets a swagger and the groove unfurls its magic.

Next on ICONYC Noir we welcome back label all-star Roberto Traista with his latest smash 'Mood'. Roberto delivers a lovely progressive and melodic techno influenced track, which is easily his best body of work to date.

The original mix features rich driving textures; as well as euphoric and moody progressive melodic techno vibes to satisfy clubbing, uplifting and feel good needs, which are the keywords for this beautiful and extraordinary release. Utilizing a hypnotizing groove as the basis of the mix underpinned by a loaded bass that gradually eases its way to the breakdown of breaks percussive elements before unleashing into a rising melodic hook intertwined with the infectious groove that fades in and out for maximum effect. A sure winner from Roberto. Essential stuff!

Greek maestro Simos Tagias delivers a gem of a remix with his dance floor-oriented rework. Simos's remix is interspersing with roomy glowing love, filtered stabs and stunning groove which beautifully leads into a drop full of tension and excitement, with the understated yet driving bassline powering the groove along. Simos manages to keep the energy up, allowing the driving melodic house feel to shine thru over the many layers and textures to create a beautiful soundscape to round off this classy underground crowd pleaser.

With 'Mood', Roberto Traista really shows that there're no boundaries, as this beautiful melodic release guides you to a dance floor heavy, melodic hug of a release that will leave you with many smile induced moments! Not to be missed.

'Proton Music regulars and a thoroughly talented duo, LADS consistently astonish with their unique song-making and production abilities. June 2020's "Stoyote" was no exception and it is therefore a pleasure to see a return to the EP via a pair of stunning remixes from US and Greek artists.

Simos Tagias is an artist with a long and growing history with Proton Music. Able to point to well over a triple century of production credits, the Greek artist's work for Mango Alley, Replug and Hernan Cattaneo's Sudbeat, sees an artist at the summit of the progressive house scene with a distinctive and mature sound. As such, Proton has been a regular home for Simos Tagias with a pair of original EPs that began with 2017's twin-track "Airlock" and continued with 2018's "Audacity". Furthermore, a host of remixes for the likes of Soulwerk, Tim Penner and, most recently, Dimuth K's "Beams Aglow" in March 2020, have impressed. Now, taking on the title track, the Simos Tagias remix of "Stoyote" is a typically dynamic affair that bristles with percussive flair via machine-gun fire hi-hats and seismic kick. Building in rhythmic layers, melodic elements from the original float across the eight-minute piece in familiar refrains as an array of additional production material and reverb-coated effects pan across the stereo spectrum with ease. An effortless rolling groove adds to the sonic collage in club-friendly splendour via a remix that is testament to Simos Tagias' skill and craft.'
