The “My Bike” EP is Sydney Valette’s supremely danceable exploration of the ecstasies and terrors present in everyday settings. The title track is a spiritual awakening cut with a panic attack—in a sunny public park. Pale Blue Green is an apocalyptic rave party in a church. Electro can be intelligent and grandiose without losing its edge. French weirdo Sydney Valette is living proof.
 
The remixes present on the EP really expand Sydney’s signature sound in unexpected directions. Kelton Prima turns My Bike into a funky, playful affair that would make Zapp & Roger proud. The French prodigies We Are Enfant Terrible make dark, plodding poetry of Sydney’s words and set it to relentless techno. SayCet flips My Bike into a slow religious jam with a gritty but uplifting atmosphere. Sayem uses the quiet/loud formula to tease out the drama and transform the song into a war hymn. Unstoppable.

Sur le EP My Bike, Sydney Valette pousse plus loin l'exploration de ses joies et peurs. C'est une direction plus "danceable" qu'il choisit d'emprunter cette fois et c'est tout à son honneur. Le titre éponyme, My Bike, extrait de Plutôt Mourir que Crever dessine un éveil spirituel entrecoupé de crises d'angoisses — au beau milieu d'un calme square ensoleillé. Pale Blue Green, titre inédit de l'EP, figurerait une rave apocalyptique résonnant sous les voûtes fragiles d'une église. La musique électronique peut être intelligente et grandiose à la fois sans perdre de son impact. Sydney Valette en est l'exemple. 

La série de remixes de l'EP pousse les sonorités de Sydney dans des directions inattendues. Kelton Prima emporte My Bike sur un terrain groovy et old-school qui plairait à Zapp & Roger. Les jeunes prodiges de We Are Enfant Terrible font des mots de Sydney une poésie sombre et écrasante pour en fin de compte les coller sur un instrumental techno implacable. SayCet désarme My Bike pour une calme prière dans une atmosphère graveleuse, mais exaltante. Et pour finir, Sayem use du contraste douceur/violence pour donner un aspect dramatique au morceau et subitement le transformer en un hymne martial. Unstoppable !
