Gothenburg raised producer/dj and owner of Trunkfunk Records – @Nibc – is now based in Berlin from where he continues to spread the gospel of deep, dark sounding house with a steady output of successful tracks and remixes that all carry his underground touch.We’re very proud that he wanted to do a mix for the Discobelle mix series and boy did he step up with this one, an amazing mix that’s soulful and fun and also the perfect companion for these indian summer days. He also threw in a couple of exclusives: 2 unreleased remixes for Get Physical & HK Records + a preview of the upcoming Trunkfunk release “Love Lesson” which will be released later this autumn.

HMWL Podcast 103 - NIBC [Trunkfunk, Berlin]

Gothenburg-born and now Berlin-based Fredrik Nyberg has long been a key player on Sweden’s music landscape as a producer, DJ and label head of Trunkfunk Records. Near the beginning of his DJ career, within Gothenburg’s early 1990s hip-hop scene, NIBC was inspired to create Claustrophobic Dimension, a pioneering local network for underground music and digital art, spurred on by his growing interest in techno and rave. Within a few years NIBC had fallen for house and leading to him being voted the Best DJ of 2003 by Yo Media and ranked #7 in Scandanavia’s 100 Best DJ’s Poll. Today he is releasing music as NIBC or as projects like Stuffa and Tyken and is taking care of Trunkfunk Records that has evolved into one of Sweden’s most in-demand independent outlets with releases from Hans Berg, Uniforms and Trevor Loveys or remixes by Ian Pooley, Axel Boman, Basic Soul Unit and DJ Assault. After some plans and time, he came back to me and joined Christallization with live recording from the Toy Toy club in Johannesburg, South Africa. Enjoy.

This week’s selection of the future music includes records from Disco Halal, Correspondant, ReGraded, Live At Robert Johnson and Hivern Discs imprints.
