Standards & Practices is proud to present ‘Imitable Behaviors’, the debut EP from label cofounder and frequent collaborator Ken Meier @ken-meier. All four tracks here have been kicking around in various iterations but were finally completed earlier this year. Refining and developing the sound he’s cultivated on remixes for Israel Vines and Jake Reif, as well as material under the name Obelus for Karl O’Connor’s Downwards imprint as well as Mysteries of the Deep, this is the first material released on our Double Standards sub-label since 2018’s acclaimed 12” from Device Control, ‘The Spirit Module’.

‘No Confidence’ kicks off the proceedings in fine style—it’s a sleek, aerodynamic modern electro cut with plenty of tension and rhythmic drive. ‘Fact Pattern’ follows, a favorite of ours—sparse and jittery, all nervous energy with razor-sharp drum programming and jagged, mottled sonic textures. The spacious, dubby ‘Omnipresence’ utilizes a half-time melodic feel to great effect, and the crunchy ‘End Matter’ closes the EP on a memorably quirky and idiosyncratic note, a stripped-down DJ tool that, like the other tracks here, manages to be both functional and substantial at the same time.

Friend of the label Karl O’Connor aka Regis had this to say about the release: “This is everything I love about music, but unfortunately it’s all in the wrong order.” We couldn’t agree more, Karl.

AJO aka https://on.soundcloud.com/qcTCH who originally comes from the depths of the black forest, is living in the Rhein- Main-Area since the last couple of years. Due to his father he listened to tapes from Good Looking Records and LTJ Bukem and was gifted a huge electronic music collection when he was 12, discovering Aphex Twin. A former Ex of his mother with who he used to live a couple of years, was a Didgeridoo player and introduced him into the more tripped out side of electronic music and the realm of the psy. AJO - Ambedo is heavily influenced by this background, the forest, his surrounding, the tribe and the dance.

The mix is a live arrangement, containing tracks from upcoming album "Ambedo" released on our label.

Second episode of the season, and already the arrival of a mix by Vector Field. By his real name : Antoine, 43 years old, a sound technician, producer, and DJ. With such a wide range of activities, he has been active in the electronic music scene since the late 90s (as Stigr). He has lived in many cities, from Paris to Amsterdam, through Berlin and Casablanca, as well as London. Drawing from his experiences, he transmits positive energy through his music, infusing it with his special touch. For this occasion, he has prepared a progressive mix, creating a connection between field recording and fast and deep techno, all filled with the kind of psychedelia we love. Hold on tight, because you're about to experience Vector Field.

Joanna OJ mutates and transmutes to create mixes telling absurd stories. The two part series COSMOGROVE compiles remix treatments of selected tracks from Varuna’s Cosmogram & Mangrove Management releases.

Pt. 1 features four reconstructed cosmograms by the hands (and minds) ((and souls)) of AWC favs & friends: Agonis and Jan Loup wander the lush gardens of Singapore’s variously de & re-naturalized (sic!) air travel hub; Hems revisits an outgrowth of contemporary petroculture and takes a trip to the remnants of Abu Dhabi’s would be post-oil model city; and Konduku goes vertical to prune Milan’s abundant concrete forest.

While the world relapses into petro-desires and indulges in fossil fuel bingeing :(((((((((, AWC remains committed to diagramming post-natural feedback loops. Stay tuned.
