Had very little time to write Day 1 challenge, but here it goes :)

#21daysofVGM - Day 1: Sea Shanty in Dorian

My entry for the 2nd day of #21DaysofVGM. I found it so hard to build a "Game over-try again" feeling within 10 seconds!
I chose a Locrian mode and borrowed a chord from Aeolian to end it all together with an extra mysterious vibe.
Had a lot of fun in the process :)

For my day 3 entry on #21DaysofVGM, I decided to use a compound 12/8 time waltz only using pizzicato strings. I also modulated from C major to D major in the B section.
I am having way more fun than I thought I would :)

My entry for day 4 of #21DaysofVGM.
Based on the challenge "The Attack of the Drones", I used a single C on the bass for the entire track. I put a marching (kind of) rhythm and used Phrygian mode to give it a more exotic flavour. Very short piece.
Drones are an awesome and easy way to keep the same modal mood for the entire music :)

My entry for day 5 of #21DaysofVGM. I used "The Name Game" challenge, limiting myself to write a melody with the letters in my full name that correspond to notes (and in the same sequence). 
In my case, believe it or not, I had 13 letters to use haha. A big compound full name finally pays off :)
Had to be kind of creative with the harmony (but not that much really).

My composition for Day 6 of #21DaysofVGM.
Today I wrote a short music cue for sleeping at the inn in JRPG-style. Used D Lydian for this one for a dreamy mood.
It seems like the shorter, the harder it is to write something meaningful :)

A Place to Recharge

Composed this track for day 7 of #21DaysofVGM.
Based on "The JRPG Special" challenge, I used only one flute, piano and violin. I chose a Lydian mode and on the B section I used modal mixture to get a Mixolydian flavour. Lots of love for this nostalgic/dreamy combination!
I love JRPG - definitely my favourite genre to compose for.

#21DaysofVGM - Day 7: A Peaceful Place

Had very little time to compose my track for day 8 of #21DaysofVGM, so I chose a short challenge "Sweet, sweet victory" - to write a short celebratory fanfare after completion of a battle.
Not entirely satisfied about the result, but still happy to be able to compose something new everyday.

Day 9 of #21DaysofVGM, decided to try a little theme for a quiet and friendly JRPG village.
Used mode mixture to change from Mixolydian in the A section to Ionian in the B section.
All sounds are from Notion 6 expansion bundles.

Inspired by the "Home for the Harvest" challenge, I wrote a music inspired by Harvest Moon/Animal Crossing/Farmville type of game.
I kinda liked the result :)

Monkey Tree Ranch

My entry for day 11 of #21DaysofVGM.
Today I based my composition on the challenge "Jungle Fever". I wasn't exactly sure of which instruments might evoke a forest (even thou born and raised in Brazil - ha!). Decided to stick with some percussion instruments, like woodblock, log drum, drumsticks, bongos, flexatone and Marimba. 
Used lydian mode for a happier and more uplifting sound. I like the result :)

Adventure in the Rainforest

My entry for Day 12 of #21DaysofVGM.
Today I took the challenge "So Damn Hot" and tried to write a track for a desert kind of level. Now this is definitely outside of my comfort zone, so indeed a good way to challenge myself.
Used the Byzantine scale (aka double harmonic scale) for a more characteristic eastern sound and raised the bIII and bVII on the B section for a Phrygian feel.

My entry for Day 13 of #21DaysofVGM. 
Today I composed a battle theme for a beach environment. I chose the challenge "It Takes Two (lines)" and wrote only a melody, bass line and minimal percussion. 
I used Phrygian mode in the A section and Dorian in the B section for a slight change in mood. Add to this an electric guitar and it just smells Spanish exotic-like mood :)

Today I wrote a peaceful tune for a Fisherman kind of village. I love this combination of alto flute, acoustic guitar and Cello. It matches perfectly (to my ears at least)!

Right, so now I am really running out of ideas haha. Tried my best to do something different. At first I wanted to compose a title theme for an adventure type of game... but I have mixed feelings about this one.
Hope that by tomorrow ideas start flowing again :)

Cannot believe already 20 days have passed! I will miss this challenge! Connected with a bunch of great people.
Based on the prompt "Something Old", I picked up my very first composition (which was a piano sketch) and tried to give some life to it without changing the melody or chord progression.
