This week on the Ismcast we have Mayeul.

The Frenchman with a love for acid has finally contributed to the Ismcast and what a set. Mayeul has been an artist that Ismus has kept a close eye on since the very beginning, having made his Berlin debut with us back in 2018. Since then he has grown at a fantastic rate becoming one of the main names coming out of France for harder electronic music. He is also one half of the Jawbreakers project alongside his main man JKS.

This set takes us back to the sounds of 90s techno and really displays a vast music knowledge for such a young artist.

From a young age on, the Dutch and formerly Belgium-based AMEKMAR has been passionate about music and all it has to offer. Ever since getting her first cassette tapes, followed by a Discman and CDs, music was played all day, every day.

AMEKMAR has a wide interest in music from artists of various genres, such as Duke Ellington, Nirvana and Cherry Moon Trax – to name a few. Their music has provided her with far-reaching insights into what music means to her and what it can mean to others. Once she felt the joy and excitement of standing behind the turntables and sharing the endlessly sought music with others, the microbe of deejaying settled deeply into her body. During her deejay sets, AMEKMAR knows how to keep the crowd moving by serving uncompromising, dark, energetic and yet somewhat mysterious techno, always including a decent and refreshing selection of records.

Currently, both the pursuit of an academic degree as well as creating and playing music are what is keeping her busy. AMEKMAR can be described as an ‘all-or-nothing’ individual who goes after what she seeks by working her head off for it. Her goals remain dependable and straightforward: learning and getting better each day and developing as a person and artist by seeking to push her own boundaries.

Her musical talent and growth haven’t been left unnoticed. Her development is paying off and has already taken her to venues in The Netherlands, Belgium and France, such as BASIS, Club Vaag and Racanze – but also festivals like Dour, Extrema Outdoor, Tomorrowland and Verknipt. Besides performing, she has also been making steps production-wise. With releases on Coincidence Records, Everyone on Acid and Tabulat, as well as in the process of creating her first EP, she can be noticed as fast-growing.

Beat maker and tastemaker Arkane has been a stalwart member of the Manchester techno community for a number of years. Formally co-running the sophisticated label Abyss, Arkane's ear for good music has been a long-standing skill that has transferred across to his own productions.

Starting out together with co label boss Alexander as "Kander", Kane moved on to producing under a new solo alias. Since then, Arkane has been forging a new palette as well as pursuing different styles and sounds, which is evident in this mix.

Artist: Confusion

Confusion is a Heidelberg-based producer and resident DJ of the Raserei collective. His dancefloor-oriented sound is characterized by highly effective rhythms, minimalist synths, and trippy pads or textures that traverse various tempos and subgenres, maintaining a consistent energy level. Drawing inspiration from his roots as a drummer and the evolving landscape of techno over the decades, Confusion also finds creative influence in his appreciation for ambient soundscapes, IDM, and other experimental electronic genres. 

Since 2017, he has been shaping the regional techno scene in Mannheim and its surroundings. Co-hosting a visionary event series at Disco Zwei, he has been instrumental in bringing well-respected bookings to the forefront.

In recent years, his focus has expanded to crafting stripped-down yet minimalistic techno tools. Alongside numerous self-releases, remixes, and various artist appearances on labels like Schimmer Records, Duplicity, and SOPTIK, he has earned recognition with releases on well-respected platforms such as the Berlin-based SYXT, PRX Records, and Adapter. Taking the next ambitious step, he and his collective mates decided to launch their own label in June 2022. Confusion's music has garnered support from established artists including DVS1, Luke Slater, Setaoc Mass, Rene Wise, Marrøn, Border One, Kaiser, and Lea Occhi, to name a few. These tracks have found their way into the sets of these artists at renowned venues like Berghain, KHIDI, Bassiani, and Radion.
