Roger Martinez likes to explore the boundaries of the psyche during his many trips into the mountains carrying his shaman drum and various other instruments. This adventurousness is audible in every Roger Martinez track. He delivers yet another exciting EP with three epic originals on Secret Cinema’s Gem Records.

The EP opens with the percussion of ‘Altijd hier en nu’. The track sounds pretty straight forward and funky so far. But after the bassline and kick are introduced a trippy soundscape with random sounds and noises echoes in the background. Eerie synth stabs hint and tease at the beautiful melody that will open up into a warm blanket of huge pads during the break only to be abruptly ended as the groove returns. Powerful warm dance floor techno the way we love it.  

The second track of the EP ‘Apollo’ is slightly rougher. U pumping kick with a deep bassline and toms form the base. On top of that there is loads of room for synths and noises to echo around in mountainous reverbs. This time the melody adds to the intense atmosphere of the track rather than warmth. A beautiful composition that will undoubtedly bring images to mind when you close your eyes.

Finally we have ‘Space is the place’. A beautiful track, the calmest of the three. You can just imagine yourself flying through the stars on this track. A hypnotizing groove with a one note bassline keeps repeating and repeating as loads goes on in the background. Throughout the track the main melody stays out of focus, most of the time just echoing around.

Gaetano Parisio is nothing short of a techno legend. A long serving artist who influenced the techno scene since way back in 1997, the Naples-based DJ and producer has released music on labels like Adam Beyer’s Drumcode, The Advent’s Kombination Research and Primate, to his own Conform, Southsoul, and ART Records.

The extensive ART (Advanced Techno Research) project was formed in 1998 and featured a 24-track collection of vinyl, well known for its unusual format: a sequence of releases that progress numerically, with each block of ten signifying a distinct musical stage. Only when each series is finished does the label’s message become fully apparent, as each record reflects a distinct aspect of the overall artistic vision.

In December 2024, Gaetano has decided to release the whole remastered catalogue digitally for the first time along with two special and unreleased works. Officially titled 'ART Records - Advanced Techno Research - Back Catalogue' he is reinvigorating these classic productions for the community and new generation of artists to enjoy.

For this DT:Premiere we selected “03/10 A Side” that has a rough and gritty sound. Driving and loopy, this hardgroove classic is intense and percussive, with a fierce, analogue mood from relentless stabbing synth elements, it’s a fervent dance floor tool.

Our catalogue number 24 is a very emotive one with a clear focus on the dancefoor but also for your great listening pleasure. The “Susurrus” EP is featuring the young Dutch German talent Raphael Hofman - The berlin based producer with regular gigs at the legendary Sisyphos already has a rich experience starting at the tender age of 16 hosting his own electronic club series, Djing as well as singing and playing the guitar.

His musicality and talent in producing beautiful soundscapes and rhythmic structures fnds expression on this smooth 2 tracker, the “Susurrus” EP.

The remixes are coming from two very promising newcomers. Portsmouth own Kris Davis stirring up the underground with his emotive, analog crafted techno since 2014 as well as Bird Of Paradise, who has recently fast tracked to prominence via his output on Correspondant and New Yorks “Throne Of Blood”.

Susurrus opens this release with a sunrise. Vanishing soundscapes leading to a synth melody that hits your heart and carries you evolving throughout this tune with a straight honest techish groove keeping it together.

Bird of Paradise’s version is bringing “Sussurus” to a diferent level. Moviish soundscapes paired with a demanding acid line. The groove is a unique mix of 80ish elements and modern percussive parts which will surely fnd his afcionados.

Nightmare is not so nightmarish as it’s title. It’s more a hymn dedicated to those who can’t stop dancing till dawn. Dark but not gritty. Driving but still with the regard for the morning hours as well as droppable in the prime time hours.

Kris Davis already has a very distinctive trademark sound which you can fnd in his interpetation of “Nightmare”. Emotive, deep and ambient but not loosing paying attention to the crowd. A great piece.
