Martian is the Alter Ego of DJ and Producer Maarten Dijkman, who has been DJ-ing and producing music under aliases ‘Freakquen-C’ (UK rave & Acid) ,’Shia de Boef’ (Minimal Electronic) and ‘Attack of the Clones’ (Live Acid with Dj Diablo).

His first attempt in creating music was when he was 8 years old. After discovering house music (Prodigy, 2 Brothers on the 4th Floor, 2 Unlimited etc) his dad bought him his first keyboard and helped him getting familiar with music software. In his late teens and early 20’s he was the lead guitar player in a rock band for which he also wrote the songs.
Writing music for the band got him back at music production software, and when friends took him to some techno and drum ’n bass parties he rediscovered electronic music. The final push into the electronic domain came when he went to 030303’s “Rave” party and acts like SL2  played the oldskool house music he fell in love with when he was 8 years old. He sold his guitar and got himself some turntables and a couple of records..

Due to his work as a Sales Representative at Dijkman Muziek (an Amsterdam based musical instrument shop) and Sales Manager /Product Specialist for Amptec (Distributor of Studio Equipment) he has become an allround electronic musician. Dj-ing with vinyl or Traktor and Stems, playing live using Bitwig/Ableton and analogue hardware synthesizers or creating music with VST instruments, he makes music with everything you trow at him.
The same open mind approach applies for his sound, which can probably best be described as Minimal Electronic with lots of melodic elements, but has a lot of influences from Genres like Acid, Electro, UK Rave and Techno.
