GEM TOS - Motivational Speech

14 years ago I fell in love with a video game. And this remix is my musical love letter of sorts to Warren Spector and the team of people at Ion Storm whose effort, imagination and eerily prophetic vision created what is, to me, the best game of all time – Deus Ex.

It was the story and underlying themes of freedom, power and technology that really pulled me deep into its dark dystopia. Nanotech, Robotics and Artificial Intelligence factor largely into the storyline of Deus Ex, which hints at an incredible future for humanity with these elements playing critical roles.

For this musical tribute, I decided to recreate and remix what I consider the best and most memorable track from the Deus Ex soundtrack, the UNATCO theme. I also took the liberty to blend in a few other musical themes from the game, and I think they fit pretty well. The goal with the song and the video was to capture the mood and feel of the game in a condensed 6 minute trip through gaming nostalgia.

Deus Ex – UNATCO Theme [Cryonaut Extended Cover]

Deadlight District is a cold, instrumental descent into a war-ravaged Russian financial zone. It opens with glitched Soviet tones and a slow, distorted kick—like distant shellfire in concrete canyons. Metallic synths rise like broken sirens, layered over industrial rhythms that echo malfunctioning escalators and flickering LED tickers. Midway, detuned piano and ghostly pads evoke the hollow grandeur of abandoned boardrooms and shattered wealth. The climax erupts in glitchy breakbeats and collapsing sonic architecture. It fades into a low-frequency hum and the whistle of wind through broken glass. Stark, cinematic, and unforgiving.

Deadlight District

A brutal cyberpunk anthem forged in the shadows of Tokyo’s underworld. This electro-EDM brawler drips with rage, rebellion, and raw energy—perfect for a Beat 'Em Up showdown in a forbidden VIP arena where only the fiercest survive. The bass hits like brass knuckles, the synths slice like katanas, and every drop ignites a riot of flashing lights and clenched fists. Dark, violent, and relentlessly hypnotic, Yakuza Fight Club is the soundtrack to your inner warrior—wired for combat, pulsing with vengeance.

It's that song from Deus Ex! The chord changes were particularly difficult to get sounding elegant, as they're triggered separately in-game and aren't part of the same song, so I ended up using a filter on the strings to create a sense of transition, although YMMV on how successful that's been. Comments welcome as always! Original credit for this one goes to Alexander Brandon, who did such a good job of the original Deus Ex OST.
