Wormcast Mix Series Volume 38 - Kissay (Live at Pirate Party)

As a  DJ i have had numerous unforgettable sets in beautiful settings, but my Shambhala morning sets are amongst my most beloved moments of time. I spend hours seeking out tracks that i feel will sound perfect echoing down the salmo river valley, knowing that the bulk of my sets’ attendees are essentially ready for bed, and probably should have gone to bed a couple of hours ago. I don’t consider it an issue if the dancefloor clears up while i play because subliminally my suggestion is that people come to terms with the fact that the sound is shutting off when I am done. I consider it a job to land the ship. 

This mix is not the board mix, which i believe is technically better, because originally i was slotted to play 1.5 hours but due to the fires and festival closure schedules i was only allowed to play one hour. This mix, made the night before i left for the festival, has a bonus 30 mins of music, though there are a couple of mixing hiccups which i corrected during the festival.

I am grateful to the Shambhala music festival for all they have done for me over the past 15 Shambs i have been booked to perform at. I am deeply grateful to sara lion-s, and mike hoola, for believing in me all these years and bringing my career as a designer/ vj / dj into the next level by booking me on spec, time after time. So much love for those two.

This set is called Pray For Rain. It started raining in the last 3 tracks of this set up at the ranch. I always shed a tear. Happy 20th shambhala. Thanks for being unforgettable every time.

We set out to find survivors deep in the Jungle, where times spins at 90bpm and the echoes of ragga samples consume everything in it's path. Sadly, the Junglists were never found. What was retrieved from the mission was this 30 track audio tape aptly titled 'Jungle Wars Revival - 2018'

What better way to start 2020 than with a celebration of the 20 EPs we’ve released to date.

I sat down and went through all of them, chose a track from each and put together this 20 track compilation and mix. We also got Utile on board to design a limited T-Shirt to go a long with it. This is by no means a ‘best of’, I just thought the tracks joined the dots nicely and plotted a route from where we started to where we are now.

From the humble beginnings of Clissold to the expansion and the introduction of new artists like Moresounds and Sully via the cosmic slide guitar of Customtone. We’ve released Jungle, Drum & Bass, Footwork, 140 stuff, Electro, whatever it is you call the music that Tehbis & Touchy Subject make and some somehow it all hangs together. What’s nice is that with the release of 2019’s ‘dgoHn EP’ it’s kinda come full circle, so let’s do it all again.

I've also created a 1Hr Mix that includes all these tracks and included it as a bonus download for anyone who grabs the Tshirt or download.

A huge thank you to all the artists involved over these releases and of course a huge thanks to the listeners whether you’ve been there since day dot or whether you’ve just come on board. Onwards into 2020 with plenty of new projects in the can.

The last set of the week in our „first timers“ series comes from Bailey. It actually isn’t the set he played back in 2004 at the first official SUNANDBASS edition (although it had been recorded by Drum&Bass Arena for World of Drum&Bass - they might even have it in their archives). It’s Bailey’s interpretation of the SUNANDBASS classics, and it’s beautiful. 

Bailey is one of four artists that have played at every SUNANDBASS edition - the others are crew members ArpXP, Soulsurfer and Delicat. That’s what makes him an „all timer“ for us. He usually stays for the whole week plus some additional days before and after the festival. His B2B with A Sides (also known as Baysides) at La Posta in the town center starts and closes the week. It’s the first time in 17 summers we didn’t meet, at least we have this contribution from him. He is such a versatile DJ, always ready to go (hey B, we need a DJ and presenter over here…), and he can play across a wide ranges of styles suited to the situation. We’re lucky to have him as part of the core family!
