Sadar Bahar's dreams are captured in grooves. After years and years of digging deep for records, the Chicagoan built a collection that's too big to fit in his house. Although he has collected more records than he could possibly play, his search doesn't stop, and drops by our store from time to time to see dig the racks.

Bahar got into the music scene in the early '80s, with childhood friend, Charles Brekenridge, who introduced him to the mixing game and taught him how to blend records. Later, Frankie Knuckles showed him the magic of the dance floor. During this time, Chicago was filled with DJ’s who played house and disco sounds. However, Sadar chose a different direction - playing rare & hard-to-find grooves. It is an honor to present this mix, that features a selection picks found in the RH store racks on the day.

This is the second in a series of Rush Hour Store mixes, where we invite our favorite artists and DJs to dig the bins and record us a mix on the spot. Click on the links below for more info on the featured tracks.

This is Douglas Sherman. He is the musical selector of the modern reincarnation of The Loft that David Mancuso started back in February of 1970. Paul Raffaele and Barbie Bertisch interviewed Douglas for a very special edition of ‪#‎LoveInjection‬ radio show. In hour one, you'll hear the records Doug inspired and excited him growing up, including a one-off acetate of his parents singing a duet (!!!). In hour two we get into the records that meant the most to him in the context of The Loft with examples of David's theory on building up and bringing down a night of music. BADUOLOGY is my personal ode to the 'analogue girl in the digital world' in celebration of the 20th anniversary of her debut album 'Baduizm' which is still one of my all-time-favorite LPs. It features some of Queen E’s most significant work from the past two decades, alongside songs sampled on Badu records as well as unique skits and blends, all edited and mixed by myself.

There is no single tread to be found in his sets, other than him taking risks and mixing in curveballs that light up the dance floor. On top of his sublime track selection, the skills of the Baltimore DJ are unparalleled and admired by everybody’s favorite DJs. Thus, the enigmatic virtuoso known as GE-OLOGY is a rare find indeed.

GE-OLOGY's ties with music were close from the start. After learning how to play the trumpet and starting collecting records at age 5, 6 years later GE-OLOGY’s interest in DJing and passion for music started rising to the heights he still beholds today. His interest in Hip-Hop brought him together with Tupac, Talib Kweli and Mos Def and later the Baltimore born, 80's New York City bred Renaissance man took the opportunity to produce for Jill Scott, De La Soul, Yukimi Nagano and Vinia Mojica and Jem. Yet, surprising to most, his dance floor oriented music dates back to the same time.

This masterful music producer, skilled DJ, and equally gifted visual artist has been acclaimed internationally for over two decades, however he remains somewhat of a mystery, letting his music and his mixes speak for themselves. To GE-OLOGY, music is something spiritual which reaches his soul and is inseparable from his being. This ethos is clearly emulated in his music, always digging deeper and weaving diverse music genres that coalesce to inspire soulful movement on the dance floor.
