Little Ben the antiimperialist! The reason why socialists bring up Norway as an example is because they objectively have socialist institutions where the government and democratic politics control a VAST sum of investment. Yes, Norway is certainly completely integrated into the imperial system. No doubt about it, given its situation after WW2 I would argue that it's no wonder that it is. Does that negate the fact that they have socialist institutions? It's so fascinating to see "anti imperialists" excuse all sorts of deviations and anti-socialist shit in China, but then turn around and condemn Norway because a tiny country with a nonexistent army hasn't overthrown NATO or something. Just childish stuff.

He is a contributing editor at Rolling Stone, and has also reported from Ukraine, Syria, Iraq, and Mexico for publications including Harper’s, The New Yorker, The Intercept, The New York Times, The Daily Beast, and the Columbia Journalism Review. Harp is a veteran of the Iraq war, and before becoming a journalist was an assistant attorney general for the state of Texas.
