The Assassinations Part 2: John F. Kennedy

Senator Mike Gravel passed away on June 26, 2021 at the age of 91. Leaving an amazing political career behind him, Robbie and Abby decided to reflect on his *true* legacy, one that has been white washed and cherry picked even in the recent newspaper obituaries. A legacy that includes sticking his neck out on taboo issues like advocating for a new 9/11 investigation and pushing legislation encouraging cooperation with the formerly People’s Republic of China. Gravel has been a huge inspiration to Media Roots since the beginning, leaving a lasting imprint on both Abby and Robbie since they watched him on the presidential debate stage vs Barack Obama in 2008. Because of this admiration, Robbie and Abby felt lucky they got Senator Gravel on Media Roots Radio twice as a guest over the years.

Early internet independent journalists Eric and Mike Jackman, also known as the Jackman brothers, had an opportunity to meet Gravel during the 2008 primary, as they happened to live in New Hampshire, a prime spot for visiting campaigning candidates during the presidential primary season. While Gravel was campaigning there, Eric landed a job working for the Senator as his driver. The Jackman Bros tell many hilarious and fascinating anecdotes from their long car rides with the Senator as well as much more.

Gordon Hahn discusses what he calls the New East-West Cold War or Russia-West Tinderbox, which can potentially escalate into a WWIII scenario. Kathy Kelly, a peace activist and author, made over two dozen trips to Afghanistan from 2010 – 2019, living with Afghan Peace Volunteers in a working class neighborhood in Kabul. She and her companions in various peace team delegations believe that where you stand determines what you see. Kelly lived with families in Baghdad throughout the 2003 Shock and Awe invasion and during the first weeks of the U.S. occupation. Kelly is now campaigning for an international treaty to ban weaponized drones.

Danny Sjursen is an anti-war veteran; the director of @mediaeisenhower (EMN); Senior Fellow at @CIPolicy; contributing editor at @Antiwarcom. He was recently selected as the 2019 Lannan Foundation cultural freedom fellow. The Militarized Media Coverage Of Afghanistan With Vet & Nobel Peace Prize Nom

James Kunstler returns to Geopolitics & Empire for an update on the "long emergency" and how the neo-Jacobin program is faring. He believes we are in the midst of a mass hysteria with the question being how to battle our way out of it. At the bottom of it all is the fact that techno-industrial economies have lost their mojo and are crashing, threatening to push us into a technological surveillance state. The cycle of politicians being able to get away with anything needs to be broken and the latest indictment by John Durham may contain seeds of hope. A very ugly struggle may ensue, which can include military conflict. He believes enough people will resist and put an end to the tyranny, that the techno-dystopia won't succeed because of energy restraints, though we will wake up to a different world which will include the collapse and contraction of cities.

James Howard Kunstler says he wrote The Geography of Nowhere, “Because I believe a lot of people share my feelings about the tragic landscape of highway strips, parking lots, housing tracts, mega-malls, junked cities, and ravaged countryside that makes up the everyday environment where most Americans live and work.”

Home From Nowhere was a continuation of that discussion with an emphasis on the remedies. 

His next book in the series, The City in Mind: Notes on the Urban Condition, published by Simon & Schuster / Free Press, is a look a wide-ranging look at cities here and abroad, an inquiry into what makes them great (or miserable), and in particular what America is going to do with it’s mutilated cities.

This was followed by The Long Emergency, published by the Atlantic Monthly Press in 2005, is about the challenges posed by the coming permanent global oil crisis, climate change, and other “converging catastrophes of the 21st Century.” This was followed in 2012 by Too Much Magic: Wishful Thinking, Technology, and the Fate of the Nation which detailed the misplaced expectations that technological rescue remedies would fix the problems detailed in The Long Emergency.

His 2008 novel, World Made By Hand, was a fictional depiction of the post-oil American future. It eventually became a four part series that included The Witch of Hebron, A History of the Future, and (forthcoming in June 2016), The Harrows of Spring.

Mr. Kunstler is also the author of eight other novels including The Halloween Ball, An Embarrassment of Richesand Maggie Darling, a Modern Romance. He has been a regular contributor to the New York Times Sunday Magazine and Op-Ed page, where he has written on environmental and economic issues.

He has lectured at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Princeton, Dartmouth, Cornell, MIT, RPI, the University of Virginia and many other colleges, and he has appeared before many professional organizations such as the AIA , the APA., and the National Trust for Historic Preservation.

Promoting a New Tyranny under the Guise of Saving the Planet: A Conversation with Cory Morningstar

Gregory Copley returns to discuss Africa and how the continent is largely rudderless, as it is no longer receptive to the West, and China has retreated as BRI has run out of cash. Coup season is back in Africa, as there is no downside for a putschist staging a coup nowadays (e.g. Guinea, Sudan). Conflicts center around territory, population, and resources (e.g. water). We also discuss the recent Algeria-Morocco conflict and the rumors of war as Algeria shut off a gas pipeline for the first time in 25 years. The same people who ran U.S. policy to break up Yugoslavia are doing it again in Ethiopia, using up what little is left of U.S. prestigious to create disaster. Mr. Copley gives an update on the US-China "New Total War" and why China cannot afford to go to war under any circumstances. Meanwhile, the U.S was given the Central Asian region on a plate and threw it away. He was recently in Uzbekistan talking to the highest levels of government, who are harboring great anger towards Washington. He believes re-unification of Taiwan with China is a "fiction" and that Taiwanese defensive capabilities are growing faster than Beijing's offensive capabilities. He discusses unrestricted or hybrid warfare, the "global mass psychosis" and wave of panic which began in 2020, and the rise of tyranny in the West. He cites former Czech President Václav Klaus, who told him personally, that we didn't get rid of the Soviet Union to create another one, which is what is happening in the EU, U.S., Canada, Australia, etc.
