"Just Leave Me Dreaming" - written by George Alley and produced by Ian Romer - is an evocative waltz inspired by the sailors described in Jean Genet novels. It was  originally released in 2017 and completely re-recorded as part of a creative process between Alley and Romer in preparation for Alley’s self-titled debut album. Featuring accordion by Merideth Pangrace, Piano and Bass played by Ian Romer, Cello by Eric Coyne and synths by George Alley.

George Alley is Philadelphia-based multi-media artist whose music has been the center of his work as a composer, performer, professor, journalist podcaster, choreographer and curator. 

First forming a band in high school with Frank Musarra of Hearts of Darknesses who he continues to collaborate with on this upcoming album, Alley has been releasing singles, performing and using his original music for performance and dance pieces as part of his company Alley Ink. Performance has informed his work either in his music video collaborations with Adam Peditto or as a curator for 5 years of the Philadelphia multimedia arts festival  Collage 

He is a frequent music contributor for the UK-based LGBT pop culture Loverboy Magazine. Interviewing a variety of notable musicians. As well as a podcaster for the top-ten iTunes comedy podcast “I’m Going to Kill You!” And The pandemic cast “Queerona” 

As  a professor he teaches courses on punk and creativity. This work informs his music through an emphasis on the DIY ethos, and the philosophies of chance, spontaneity and assemblage. 

After a release of a digital only remade version of his 2017 single Just Leave Me Dreaming this February; Alley will be releasing his self-titled debut album, George Alley, this spring. Produced by Ian Romer with additional production from Frank Musarra it also features musical contributions from Norma Alley(vocals), Eric Coyne(cello) Sasha Ki(violin,viola) Russel Kotchner (violin), Jack Reilly (drums) Alec Spiegelman (saxophone) and Branson Yeast (cello).

To accompany this release a 5 song concert has been filmed and will be released along with 3 promotional music videos. A collectible run of 500 albums will be available on “transparent root beer” vinyl pressed by Gottagroove Records. Live dates will be posted on georgealley.com

Just Leave Me Dreaming

I listened to a track I did some years back called SCHNEIDER'S RIDE. Inspired after I'd read #MichaelHerr's incredible 'new journalism' book #DISPATCHES, written when he was embedded during the Vietnam War. 

One particular story he hears from the Marines is about a hill that they took, then lost, then took back etc as captured territory inched forward or backwards in the long, grueling land war of Vietnam, some months only taking a hundred yards or so...

Anyway... Marine Schneider finds a rusty old bicycle and his unit dares him to cycle down the hill they have taken, into no-man's land and up the opposing hill.... 

Schneider does it and makes it back... thus: Schneider's Ride

I wrote the track at home in NYC but recorded it, as a bonus, in Tokyo, when I was mixing RACINE 2 with #KILLBILL 'BATTLE WITHOUT HONOR OR HUMANITY' soundtrack legend and massive Rockstar in Japan, Korea and all over the world: Tomoyasu Hotei #TomoyasuHotei. He plays bass and guitar on it. 

A very great experience that trip was too! 

I absolutely love this song, it's timeless, very beautiful.
