JIN05 enters the winter season with a funky warmth from synthesizer specialist Romain FX. Based in Lyon, raised in Taiwan and Hong Kong, Romain is a true multi-culturist. Growing up only speaking Mandarin in Taipei, then got in touch with keyboard at legendary Shaw Studio in Hong Kong at age of 16. A1 "結合 Jiéhé" ( in English means Combine) and B1 Flagada both showcases Romain's technical skills on boards and also his playful jam session disco vibe.   

Remixes come in 2 opposite forms:On A2 Zurich's Ozelot Records head honcho Manuel Fischer surprisingly delivers with an experimental approach, turning Jiéhé to a moody, dub funk.  Choppy kicks and woozy atmosphere makes this a late night dance floor favourite cut. Then Telephones finishes up the EP on B2 with a total, 90's peak time euphoric bomb, transforming "Flagada" into a pumping feel good vibe that is a must get weapon for all house heads and  ravers alike.

Joseph Tagliabue is a sound engineer, selector and music producer based in Milan, Italy. He is currently a leading figure in the alternative cultural Italian scene. His meticulous musical research reflects an eclectic style characterized by an Italian attitude which is the expression of the love for his land and its traditions. Tracing a music-temporal path that comes from folk sounds mixed with contemporary electronic and experimental techniques. He takes inspiration from the environment that surrounds him and breaks down the boundaries between the genres, blending its musical influences and reinterpreting its origins with a propensity towards the future. He offers refined, evocative and always different emotional performances, tailor-made to the audience without ever abandoning his own music identity.

Harold Boué AKA Abstraxion e Lion's Drums, é um produtor e músico francês radicado em Marselha.

Como Abstraxion começou a produzir música em 2005, e desde então já lançou pelo selo de Nicolas Jaar, pelo selo Dischi Autunno de Jennifer Cardini, e co-dirige a Biologic Records com o seu parceiro no crime DC Salas,

Em 2018 Harold sentiu vontade de explorar diferentes territórios musicais e lançou Lion's Drums,  que permeia e homenageia o caráter de sua cidade de Marselha: um pouco áspera, embora luminosa, e influenciada por elementos das culturas mediterrânea, africana e do norte da Europa. Isso se traduz em sons fortemente percussivos, nos quais os grooves tribais de disco invocam o espírito do vodu-techno. O seu primeiro EP  saiu pelo selo Hivern Discs de John Talabot, que trazia uma faixa co-escrita com Fantastic Man.

O artista viaja o mundo com a sua música, e com os seus hardwares seja ao vivo ou em sets de dj em lugares como o Pitchfork Festival, Berghain / Panorama-bar e, ocasionalmente, compartilhando os decks para sessões consecutivas com amigos musicais amados, como Roman Flügel e Budino , Bufiman, Chloé, Zozo ...

Harold Boué aka Abstraxion and Lion's Drums, is a French producer and musician based in Marseille. 

He started to produce music as Abstraxion in 2005, and has so far released a fair amount of EP's as well as two studio albums ("Break of Lights" on Nicolas Jaar's label Other People - 2013 & "She Thought She Would Last Forever" on Biologic Records - 2016).  His latest EP "Black Vulture" was released May 2019 on Jennifer Cardini's label Dischi Autunno, including remixes by Black Merlin and Interstellar Funk. 

In 2018 Harold felt the desire to explore different musical territories and launched Lion's Drums, which he's developing in parallel with his Abstraxion project.  Lion's Drums music is inspired from and pays tribute to the character of his city Marseille: a bit rough though luminous, and influenced by elements of the Mediterranean, African and Northern European cultures.  This translates into heavily percussive sounds, in which tribal disco grooves invoke the spirits of voodoo-techno.  He released a first EP on John Talabot's label Hivern Discs, which featured a track co-written with Fantastic Man, and made a psychedelic acid remix of "Goca Dunya" by Turkish band Altin Gün.

Harold co-runs Biologic records with partner in crime DC Salas, and has released music by Matisa, ڭليثرGlitter٥٥, Malcolm, among others.  He travels across the globe to perform a hardware live act or dj sets in places such as Pitchfork festival or Berghain/Panorama-bar, and occasionally sharing the decks for wild back-to-back sessions with beloved musical friends such as Roman Flügel, Budino, Bufiman, Chloé, Zozo...

Lion's Drums - Alter Disco Podcast 113

Let’s support this, shall we? Buenos Aires-based platform Slow Cycle presents the first release of its label segment. Doing the honours, Argentinian born, but currently residing in Mexico artist Cali Burton, whose previous works on Espacio Cielo, Logia, and Coquelicot turned the young producer into an “artist to watch” amid the so-called Indie Dance/Dark Disco scene. “Sine Qua Non” is made up of two well-constructed originals and three interesting remixes made with love by Alex Aguayo (FREEDL038 as Mahkina), Bonnie Spacey and Favio Inker, one of the Slow Cycle’s bosses.

Premiered here, Bonnie Spacey’s take of “Feeling”. The French artist, founder of the respected imprint Critical Monday, turned the original into a more embodied piece. The playful synth layer is still there, but the soothing aura brought by the vocals vanished, being replaced by a more ominous and, yes, dark atmosphere.

The excellent mastering made by our dear friend Ricardo Ruben (SXDNS103) cannot go unmentioned.

Who are you?
We are Stavros and Constantinos. We make music together under two aliases; “Stevie R & Parisinos”, and “After Altamont”. We also run an experimental record label based in London, Inside Out Records. 

How did you discover this track?
Rakesh Chaurasia is an Indian flautist, who plays the bansuri, an Indian bamboo flute. We were amazed by a live performance he released on YouTube and decided to edit it. 

Why did you choose to edit it?
We love incorporating old musical elements with electronic music. It is at the heart of what we do both as Stevie R & Parisinos, as well as After Altamont - predominantly however with Greek folk instruments. We saw this as an opportunity to explore another culture and sound.

What are you next plans?
We are preparing a live set, and have many releases planned over the next year. As always, we are looking for new talent to try as best we can to help and support them through our label too.

Helming the magnific Opalakia show for some good five years, this Melbourne native has been one of the main sources of aural pleasantries from all over the globe to PBS listeners and pretty much anyone who's been fortunate enough to catch her taking entire dancefloors on ecstatic journeys through wonderfully multifarious soundscapes. By weaving delightful rhythmic patterns and sewing enthralling melodic threads, she creates stunning musical mosaics such as the one we present here, assured to make any time of your day more enjoyable or, at the very least, more vibrant and vivid.

The night sky was lit by the flames of the flickering candles that bordered the clearing — it was the only light for miles and miles. Here they were far away from everything, and where there were no signs of civilisation, there were no interruptions. Those lucky enough to be welcomed into this ritual were all here for one reason or another. But the overriding motivation was finding something beyond the realms of reality; an intangible and unspoken force that could lead them to a higher state of consciousness. 

Tagliabue's organic approach to production has yielded cosmic and trance-inducing releases for the likes of Lustpoderosa, Cosmica Music and Blue Sea, under this alias and his given name Joseph Tagliabue. Elephant Gait Music is the next home for his transcendental musings, this time coming in the form of his debut mini-album Ambiente Sonoro. Like his previous releases, the music is cerebral and enchanting, merging eerie chants, droning atmospheres and ritualistic sounds with 70s library music and IDM influences à la Daniela Casa, Egisto Macchi, Global Communication and Coil.
