今月のSOG radioはFeat.Chill mountain recと題して大阪を拠点に活動するレーベルChill Mountain rec.のアーティストをご紹介しています。

本日配信するDJ mixは2000年中盤から野外パーティーChill mountainをスタートさせ、現在はChill Mountain Rec.のレーベルオーナー、またresident artistとしても活動しているGround。
関西をベースにするも海外の幾つものFESにも毎年出演し多忙な日々を送る彼のDJ mixは今の日本では体験することも少なくなってきました。ぜひこの機会に彼の世界観を堪能してみてください.
This month's SOG radio is titled "Feat. Chill mountain rec." and features artists from the Osaka-based Chill Mountain rec. label.

Today's DJ mix is Ground, who started the outdoor party Chill mountain in the middle of 2000, and is currently the label owner and resident artist of Chill Mountain Rec.
Based in the Kansai area, he has been busy performing at several FES overseas every year, and his DJ mixes are now rare in Japan. Please take this opportunity to enjoy his world view.

Julian Fleker is an artist from Argentina, a friend from our origins in the underground of Buenos Aires. Ricardo Ruben's project starting from the name to the artistic side face and composition takes a humorous place, although his musical background is serious. Ricardo Ruben is a character from a song by the 80's rock group Los Twists that carried a share of acid humor. It is then that the name of this Ep is not surprising, nor the way to face a different compositional work, wanting to highlight an idiosyncrasy of personal and local search.

“Sinatra is not dead, Yabran told me” plays with black humor and a story of an Argentine media gate. Yabran was a businessman accused of mafias and corruption that ended in a suicide case where everyone doubted his true death as someones think with Sinatra too. Ricardo Ruben is a drummer and the track is a tremendous banger full of percussions, and acid arpeggios of 303 in staccato where a real drum solo joins playing on top by rolling fills. A song that gallops sideways and that is a tractor pushing pistons like crazy. Weird, jazzy, creepy and bizarre black humor, really irresistible.

Kicking off 2021, Nathan Hall’s Sattva EP provides three moody slow techno offerings, with Kusht, Manski and jiony on remix duties.  Nathan Hall focuses on the darker side of music, with texture and atmosphere being the main subject matter of the EP. Born from short bursts of inspiration in the greyed out winters of the Pacific Northwest all original mixes are laced with pensive,  apocalyptic vibes. Expect synth pads kissed by the 80s, melancholic lead parts that break through and underline hypnotic arrangements and subtle organic percussions. Kusht’s remix lifts up these organic parts, supported by additional guitar lines to create his own signature version of These Days while Manski’s energetic version is a gritty banger with a touch of Leftfield House. Contributing a stripped-down remix jiony is rounding out the EP as a whole by adding psychedelic elements to keep up the spirit of Nathan Hall’s Sattva EP for a proper start into 2021.

Santino Surfers walks the sunny latitudes of guitar music legacy to concoct an amorphous blend of chilled-out, soulful, and melodically lavish material. Imagine twangy 60’s black and white guitars splashed with neon color and dusty country rock curls in distorted gleam.

The ‘surf’ sound is prevalent throughout the work (hence the name), setting the dial at laid back, grooving and liberated moods that probe the frontiers of the psychedelic. The music is mostly instrumental with occasional visits by vocals and vocoders.

‘Three Corners One View’ is the second single. It sits comfortably bopping on an upbeat break, steady bass waving while guitars paint sweet and dreamy figures in the afternoon sky.

A few more singles will follow, leading up to a full-length album release on Music For Dreams. Special thanks to Koda Kultur & Musikforlæggerne for supporting this project.

Andrey is an electronic musician, producer and mixing engineer, resident of the club "Skotny Dvor". Stas is a sound designer, theatre director and author of music for theatrical performances. So non-trivial synthesis, new media and club vibes meet classic arts and Russian percussion! The Apollonius EP contains three original tracks plus remixes by the likes of @roedeers and @shmlss making this record just a perfect club music ride. Vinyl diggers are appreciating the beautiful artwork of the limited and hand numbered edition on black plastic.

Čia pajūris ir čia Žabangai. Kaip stiprus vėjo gūsis, visada kažkur už kampo ir pasirengęs nunešti tau kepurę. Pernai vasarą šis projektas startavo naujoje uostamiesčio erdvėje - Hofas. Šioje vietoje, kiekvieną ketvirtadienį tyrinėjome elektroninės muzikos kūrėjų ir atlikėjų fonotekas bei jų užkulisius.

Šiandien Žabangų projektas plėtojasi toliau ir keliasi į elektroninę erdvę kaip mixų serija. Pirmuosius audio spąstus surengė vienas iš serijos organizatorių ir įkūrėjų - Justas Mineral.

Jo mixas derina ezoterinį techno ritmą su hipnotizuojančiais tribal garsais, pinasi užburiantys miško dvasių šauksmai su aštriom modulinėm perkusijom, išlaikančiom savitą groovą ir pašnekesį su miško velniais. Ši gausiai įvairi selekcija supakuota taip, kad karantino metu nenustotų linksėti galvos.

Resident DJ at Opium club, he is co-running a club-night “Smala”, which is also an extended family for him, with names such as 12 inčų po žeme, ivan Smagghe, Red Axes, Optimo, Vladimir Ivkovic.
Manfredas is envisioning this set in a very unique way, in his words:
“These days I usually have one day a week that is only listening to music, so basically it’s the abstract summary of that. Searching for new things, but also going deep into my personal archives. I dare to say most of it is dance music, but not for clubs. More like going into that strangle place in our heads where we dance now. I like that space, it's much more loose, not so much locked in usual tempos and structures.”
