Der vom russischen Angriff auf die Ukraine ausgelöste Preisschock bei Öl, Gas und Strom trifft Haushalte und Unternehmen europaweit hart. Bei steigendem öffentlichem Unmut in mehreren Ländern, wie Deutschland, suchen EU und nationale Regierungen verzweifelt nach Wegen, um kurzfristig den wirtschaftlichen Schaden der Preiserhöhungen einzudämmen und langfristig den Ausstieg aus der Abhängigkeit von nicht nur russischer fossiler Energie zu ermöglichen. 

Die Energiekrise scheint sogar zu einer gefährlichen Entzweiung zwischen Europa und den USA führen zu können. Ist Europa in der Lage, gleichzeitig die aktuelle Krise zu bestehen und trotzdem den Green Deal voranzutreiben? Und wie stark ist der ökologische Wandel gefährdet, wenn Europas Abhängigkeit von den dafür notwendigen chinesischen Rohstoffen und Seltenen Erden sich noch extremer darstellt als die heutige Abhängigkeit von russischem Öl und Gas?

Europa im Diskurs - Europas Not: Auswege aus der Energiekrise

A year after the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Debating Europe series brings together four leading experts to examine to what degree the Russo-Ukrainian War is shifting the geo-political landscape. Although Eastern Ukraine amounts to a small patch of the world’s landmass, the war on this territory has had consequences reaching into every corner of the world. Most commentators agree that this conflict will last many more months if not years. In this debate, our eminent guests will discuss whether there is a military or political end in sight to the conflict; whether it is yet possible to define the contours of an end to the war; whether an escalation remains a possibility; and in what respect this war is reordering geo-politics now and in the future.
