‘Camargue’ gets a fresh treatment on Drumcode, as a handful of techno’s finest give new life to an R&S classic. 

Coming from the studio of CJ Bolland and Portuguese journeyman The Advent, the track was born out of a golden age of Belgium dance music and first released in 1992. It stands as one of the most treasured pieces of vinyl in Adam Beyer’s collection and this six-part compilation of remixes and remakes marks a highpoint in Drumcode’s history. 

The package consists of a punchy pin-sharp 2019 version of the original, as CJ Bolland and The Advent polish the edges of their time-honoured rave favourite. Maceo Plex makes his return to DC after 2014’s ‘Conjure Dreams’ and his is a bustling industrial take, with distorted vox that gives way to sheaths of stirring melody, before the spine-tingling chords enter the fore and the cut drops into broken beats. Vintage Maceo. Enrico Sangiuliano delivers a trademark cosmic rework underlined by tribal bass stabs and twisted synth lines to accompany the famous riff. It’s an outstanding remake that’s already a big summer favourite for the Drumcode crew. Adam Beyer and Layton Giordani team up with their own groove-injected, future-focused adaption, all the while never losing sight of the misty-eyed spirit of the original. In contrast to the peak-time prowess of the other respective versions, rising Dutch talent Keith Carnal moulds a liquid smooth interpretation heavy on hypnosis and sparse drums. The Advent rounds out the package with his own fresh version, a whip-smart cut that chops and changes between pounding drums, dreamy synth interludes and warbled effects.

January 2013's mix, bit of a mixture of stuff from last year and some new promos and tracks by myself, I had a broken turntable for a bit which explains the long gap between monthly mixes ( excuses! ), I'll try to get another mix done soon, there's loads more tunes to go in just from January alone!

This mix was also played tonight ( Jan 9th ) on the Doppler Shift show on www.fnoob.com, and represents the kind of sound I am really into right now as a DJ and as a producer. Yeah it's a bit slower, yeah it doesn't have much acid in it, yeah yeah yeah whatever, I've heard it all for so long, the complaints and the gripes from a small but very vocal group of people who just love to moan or so it seems, and lets face it this is the internet and wow! people do love to moan on the internet!. But also now I'm hearing the love and the support and for once I'm beginning to feel a bit more confident about my choice to move away from Acid Techno, the gigs are working out again playing to a slightly different crowd, maybe with a few familiar faces in there, and occasionally I'm still banging it, just for balance.

Things are beginning to come back together in the techno music world for me now, darker techno music is emerging from the minimal era with a few bruises but essentially all the more aware from the experience, the beats and BPM's have toughened up a little and the tech house influences have all but gone, also the sound is driving towards the dance floor again, so we are losing the 'swirly ambient head nodding but nothing happening' music style too, which I am happy about.

I hope 2013 is a year of great funky grooves with innovative production, less adherence to formulas, but more attention to getting people on the floor and getting them back in the clubs where they belong.

GEORGE PERRY stands for exquisite techno that he has a large fan base worldwide earned .. "The virtuose on the decks" was many years as a board turner in the world's history go and unleash is the embodiment of pumpin house and techno and his energetic sets every dancefloor. The frankfurter George Perry has developed a unique style, combining techouse, techno, and even breakbeats together in DJ set. From the underground techno anthems through to the big upcoming techouse-Gooves is something for everyone here.
He discovered early on the possibilities of the turntable, experimented with LPs and turntables. In the 80s he went full on with soul, funk and pop but changed the course of the 80's electronic music and deep house to techno eventually.
George Perry's sets with his spacey, dubby and groovy techouse tunes, the happy times may also slip into the slightly techno, was not only excellently put together and mixed, but like a 3-degree climb people will almost imperceptibly but inexorably going on a trip !
