This is my second album that contains nature recordings from the Alam-Pedja nature reserve from Estonia. When the first album presented with ​​how Alam-Pedja sounds through the year and in different habitats then the concept of this album is one day and in one selected location in Alam-Pedja. All recordings are made in the yard of an abandoned farmhouse located in a deep forest. I'll listen one day through audio recordings I made in May 2020 and 2021

Some information about the old farmhouse. The farmhouse was built for forest workers in 1938 during the time of the first Estonian republic. Up to 15 people lived there at the same time in 1956 and in 2004 the last resident of this farm died. Since then, the farm is empty.

Preview of a nature recording album: Alam-Pedja soundscapes in an abandoned farmhouse

This field recording captures activity around the nesting location of a group of European Bee Eaters. The nests were located in the banks of the river Fiora. The mics and recorder were carefully placed and left to record over a long period so not to disturb the birds. In the background we can hear a Golden Oriole, Skylarks and European Blackcaps.

It's 5am in Mara North Conservancy, just outside Masai Mara National Reserve in Kenya. This is one of the few places in the world and even in East Africa where you can hear lions, hyenas, zebras, buffalo and other wild animals and cattle bells, dogs barking etc from the surrounding villages. This is a compilation from an over night recording in Kirpakka woods with 15 small cracks in chronological order and as last a bigger bang from one long recording earlier in february.

I had the microphones out in Kirpakka small preservation area over night (from sunset to midday) during the coldest days when temp went down to -20C.  There was practically no sign of life except some road noise and machines from a nearby farm.  Daytime there were a few Crows and two Ravens, one Great Spotted Woodpecker and in early night the distant call of a Tengman's Owl.  

One recording of 18 hours earlier didn't result in any sound of life except a very weak Crow at 11 am. and the big crack in the end of this recording.

There seems to be a great loss of tits and crossbills in Finnish forests today.

But the trees were keeping a good amount of cracks and pops, specially in the early night when the temperature change was as fastest.
