During a severe wind storm, I revisited the yellow popular from this winter storm recording: https://soundcloud.com/acousticnature/tree-creaks-inside-an-oak

This time, I stuck a pair of EM272 microphones inside the tree cavity instead of putting my SASS in front of the opening. I mainly did this to protect the mics from the heavy rains that came during the night. 

I was really amazed at how well the tree insulated the mics from the outer world's sounds. Even the torrential downpour we received sounded like a gentle drizzle. 

When I popped the SD card into my computer the next morning, I was surprised that the popular made less noise than the previous recording, despite the increased wind speeds. 

I think this may have been due to 2 things: the warmer weather and deeper cracking along the the main trunk. I believe both these factors gave the tree more "wiggle-room" and caused less direct rubbing.

This recording is a compilation of 27 interesting clips throughout the night ranging in length from 3-111 seconds.

As some local thunderstorms rolled through the south of France, I left a drop rig overnight. This short recording captures a few claps of thunder before the rain arrived.

In the wolf forest close to Uppsala I placed a drop rig continuously recording for 48 hours and mixed it down to nine minutes. In the order they appear:
willow tit
crested tit
capercaillie, male flew past very close
pygmy owl
common scooter, two flocks migrating south
rain shower
WOLVES
pygmy owl
ural owl, female barking
jay
crested tit
raven landed close and walked around at the same time as WOLVES had a concert in the distance

These recordings were made with deep respect in the country of the Ngarrindjeri peoples.

With respect, with sadness, with hope. Everything here has changed; except for the sound of the ocean. Where the waters meet, is where the sounds merge. The sound of the ocean, permeating all, remains the same.

Enregistrements réalisés par Francis de Frescheville les 23 et 24 avril 2017 dans la forêt du Risoux, dans le Jura. L'écoute au casque est indispensable pour localiser les diverses sources sonores.
	Micros Sennheiser MKH-20 et enregistreur Tascam HD-P2.
	C'est une sorte de reportage sur le manège des tétras, décrit en six plages enregistrées avec les mêmes réglages. Ces séquences sont placées l'une après l'autre, séparées par un silence de deux secondes.
	1 - La nuit tombe. Les Tétras débarquent et s'installent dans les épicéas. On entend au loin un Moyen-duc et une Chouette de Tengmalm.
	2 - Cinq tétras égrènent leur chant dans le calme de la nuit.
	3 - La nuit se termine. Merles à plastron, puis Grives musiciennes. On entend une Bécasse.
	4 - Le jour est levé, l'ambiance s'enrichit, les tétras sont plus assurés, mais toujours branchés.
	5 - Les tétras descendent au sol et commencent leur parade. Les hoquets répétés viennent de deux grands corbeaux. On entend aussi un élevage d'huskies.
	6 - Affrontement de deux tétras et reconduite à la frontière.

It's an overcast morning at a clearing deep in the Harenna forest. Wildlife has been up for hours and the dawn chorus is in full swing. Gigantic hornbills fly around, their harsh feathers sounding like miniature aircraft when gliding.
