The idea behind this piece was to create a piece of longform Ambient using ChatGPT to randomly select some prompts.  These were the prompts...

Key - C-Sharp/D-Flat

Time Signature - 5/4

Three Acoustic Instruments - Kalimba (I used meditation bells from Cubasis' Halion collection instead), Cello (I used Celli from Iconica Sketch), and Glass Harmonica (I downloaded a oneshot from Freesound and used in MiniSampler)

Two Synths (I gave ChatGPT a list of my favourite synths, and...) - For bass, it chose TB Lowtone, and for pads, it chose Bleass Alpha

And with those prompts answered randomly, I created this piece in Cubasis 3 and mastered with Doctor Vibe, Grand Finale 2, Cubasis' Brickwall Limiter set to -1dB, and Youlean's Loudness Meter.  Enjoy. ❤️

JWM - Ambient Intelligence

A problem in classical physics: a crude estimate of the light that objects radiate due to heat, known as black body radiation, showed objects keep radiating into the ultraviolet spectrum in an amount that, added up, would be infinite. The discovery of quantum effects resolved the issue.

Created and mixed live with apps in AUM on IPad, principally Lunar Lander, StepPolyArp and iSEM, sequencing by Atom.  Doom drum by Sidekick. No keyboards were harmed in the making of this.

Ultraviolet Catastrophe

Outer Space is a very cold, lonely place.  Lots of beautiful vistas, but also deadly.

So yeah, I decided to take my time to create this one today rather than rush something out to meet a daily deadline.  Made in Cubasis 3 on iPad.  My favourite DAW for crafting Ambient.

Mystery Of The Sphinx (remix)

According to some astronomers, star  HD 140283, the so-called ‘Methuselah Star’ appears to be older than the universe it is part of. This raises certain… questions.

Track created entirely using the new Stylophone (!) DS2 mini modular synth, no other instruments involved. FX from the Zoom MS 70CDR+ foot pedal. Recorded live and multitracked into AUM on iPad.

The rhythm here largely comes from Harmony Bloom driving 3 instances of Arturia Augmented Mallets. The lead voices were played on GeoShred - the iPad touch surface MPE controller and a 1978 Rhodes Mark I Stage Piano. Because I’d done a few harmonically static pieces of late, I took a common jazz progression through different keys for the variations. For fun, I chose a 15 beat phrase length and lastly chose to adopt the definitely unfashionable rondo form where the A theme reappears between variations B, C and D. All done on Ableton. iPads were involved for GeoShred and in early sketching using MIDIStep.
