Neuschul

Are a duo formed of brothers Luke and Sam Norland, based in Bristol and London respectively, having grown up in Devon. Luke has a classical music background as a french horn and piano player whilst Sam is also a creative director and animator. 

The name Neuschul pays homage to their grandfather’s original surname, translating as New School. His skill and vision as a painter helped inspire their own explorations into creativity whilst their collaboration and mutual love for electronic music stretches back 10 years, being influenced by the likes of Boards of Canada, Aphex Twin, Bonobo, Nicolas Jaar, John Tejada and Flying Lotus. Both have operated under different aliases such as Alembic, Jasper, Million Way, The Avantrural Cinema, and collaborated in other projects like Afriquoi and The Heritage Orchestra.

The Hyper-love EP is their first offering, ranging from crunchy textured hip hop and electronic soul to jacking analog house tracks. It was written, mixed and mastered by Neuschul. Vocals on Stay Open and Flooded written and performed by Michelle Denny.

We produce the Glittering Plains dance tent at the Barbican's Walthamstow Garden Party each July.
