Copy Paste Soul returns with a new EP on his newly relaunched 2Swords imprint this August, entitled ‘The Fall’ and backed with a remix from house legend Laurent Garnier.

Rising artist Copy Paste Soul has been receiving huge support on his material over the past few years, striking chords with the BBC Radio 1 elite including Pete Tong, Annie Mac, B Traits and Skream, with his infectiously warm and intelligent compositions. He relaunched the 2Swords imprint with ‘Like This’ in June 2014, picking up wide support in the lead up from many heavy hitting names in the world of underground electronic music, namely Art Department, Huxley, Ewan Pearson and Kate Simko to name but a few.

Here we see Copy Paste Soul open up this new release with the re-release of title cut ‘The Fall’, a contemporary house cut fuelled by loose, bumpy rhythms and low-pitched vocal licks, while classic rave style stab sequences, a wandering bass hook and tension building string melodies add a retro charm to the feel of the record. Once again we’re treated to stylish and understated work from Copy Paste Soul.

Following is a second original from the budding producer, entitled ‘The Reverend’, this time embracing a jazz tinged aesthetic with meandering piano licks, preachy vocal lines and natural rhythms, while a hypnotising, elongated bass hook puts a unique spin on things to generate a distinctive and idiosyncratic piece.

The package is then rounded off with a remix from French legend Laurent Garnier, who reshapes ‘The Fall’ into
an elegant groove-led number, Laurent’s been a huge fan of Copy Paste Soul’s material since the project was
launched, and the fact he only offers remixes for one in return stands as testament to their relationship and love for each others music. Garnier lays his interpretation out over nine minutes with an ever-blossoming, dynamic feel, extracting snippets from the original and remoulding them with his signature deep and engrossing style.

Copy Paste Soul’s ‘The Fall’ is out on 2Swords 25th August 2014.

An influential player in House circles since the late 90's, Tripmastaz' music can be found on top labels including Be As One, Moon Harbour, Cecille, Magnetic and his own Plant 74 imprint - all solid proponents of the House Gangster culture.

As the title suggests, TomzWork sees Tripmastaz getting to work on the tom-tom drums, providing a jacking, tribal groove underpinning an incessant, looping, deconstructed vocal sample.  Carlo Lio brings a heavier feel with stomping beats and a dirty groove, while Bebadim adds some swing and a bumping bass line to his relentlessly driving remix.

Tripmastaz explains the story behind TomzWork, “The Original version was produced around 2006 during the really short live late-night session when I was f**ing around with my vocal sample.  Somehow the finished version dropped to the bottom of my unlimited beat stash! :)  2012 was the year when I showed it to Sneak. Another year and a half passed by and next thing I know Sneak is loving it and  The Martinez Brothers are playing it on Boileroom TV.  Shouts to Carlo Lio for a tasty fat remix and I had to get my boy Bebadim on board with his version too!”

The people of Hamburg are associated with traits such as modesty and coolness. The same can be said about the music scene of Germany‘s second largest city: While there is a lot of buzz in the media about cre- atives being envious to the capital, the music scene, especially in the electronic fields, has been thriving here in the last few years. Hafendisko, the Hamburg based new sub label by hfn music, reknowned for their re- leases by Trentemøller and Kasper Bjørke, now puts an end to Hanseatic understatement: “hamburg elektronisch” is a new compilation series of awesome electronic beats from the river Elbe, the first installment focu- ses solely on House music. The 20 tracks of this download-only com- pilation, among which are three exclusives, not only feature old masters like DJ Koze and Lawrence, promising newcomers like Smallpeople und Wareika, but also showcase the most important melting pots of the Hamburg scene.
The new drive of the city is mostly accumulated in two spots: Smallville Records, the first of them, proves that the classic record store still can be of relevance, no matter how much discourse about releases and pro- ducers is now going on in digital networks. The store is small, but run with knowledge and passion. The people there not only curate their own Smallville parties all around the city, but also run an offspring store in Paris and several great labels: “Smallville” (featured here with tracks by Law- rence and Smallpeople), the vinyl-only imprint „Laid“ and, of course, „Dial Records“,the most-famous electronic label in Hamburg, because of its unique melancholic approach to techno music (check out Isolée on this compilation). On top of that, people who help there at the counter also run their labels like RvdS (whose “it’s”-platform is represented here with „A Walk On The Moon“) or book great parties like the “Dear” nights at the “Ego” club - the second epicentre in Hamburg at the moment.
With the “Ego” in the outskirts of the world famous Reeperbahn the city finally has a great techno club again, in addition to the „Baalsaal“ and „Neidklub“. Its owner Solomun also runs the booking agency and label “Diynamic” in the same building. The label already released nearly 50 records in quite a short time and thus is featured heavily here. Apart from Solomun check out Stimming, DJ Phono and H.O.S.H. The latter is also responsible for the ever-growing “Grünanlagen” Open Air parties who usually have an awesome line-up, although they are free.
Apart from other important concert venues like the „Uebel &amp; Gefähr- lich“ and all the nice bars of St. Pauli between the Reeperbahn and the Schanze quarter, at the end of the night the Hamburg scene still meets at the Golden Pudel Club at the harbour. Despite some difficulties it is still going strong and uncommercial after more then twenty years. Not only most of the artists mentioned before run parties here, but lots of the other labels in this collection as well like Liebe*Detail (Wareika, Lo- vebirds), Dérive (Christopher Rau) or Mirau (Tensnake). At the Pudel so many different people and music scenes engage in creative friction. This multitude of styles will be covered in future parts of this “Hamburg elektronisch” series that will also be released on CD. Cause hanseatic understatement is over.

RKS is back with another hard hitting release. The “Nasty Thing EP” comes courtesy of Birmingham based producer/DJ Alex Parkin.

Already established within the Midlands vibrant underground scene as a DJ, Alex Parkin now carries his high energy into this 3 track bundle sure to set off any dance floor.

Title track “Nasty Thing” has a classic old school house and garage feel to it. A punchy 4x4 back bone with garage style percussive “swing”, complimented by a fierce melodic bass line and topped off with a catchy vocal sample and eerie synth pads.

“Zed” follows suite with that classic garage feel with cool synth stabs before breaking down and unleashing into more of a dark bass fuelled banger that switches between 808 style drum patterns and straight four to the floor rhythms. “Prove 2 U” is a collaboration with Chris Lorenzo. Lead initially by a hooky vocal and a dark synth, progressing into a dance floor filler that switches between various melodic bass lines, complimented well by cool stabs, hits and vocal samples over the top of a crisp rolling beat.

It’s been a memorable year for the Luv Shack. Release after release, props after props, watching the guys build on a solid foundations and take it up a notch each time. If you listen to their first release (again), and then this new release, you will see just how far they have travelled in such a small time frame. And yes, it started with a couple of mini compilations and EP’s to see what the reaction would be. The reaction was good, actually no, the reaction was great, the right jocks took to the guys and the early EP’s and hence since, the Luv Shack posse have been locked up in a studio ever since. They’ve been productive, and more to the point, excelling in that production. It’s going to be a brilliant 2013.

So you drop the needle on the A and that dynamic duo Jakobin & Domino hit you with something quite sensational which also just happens to be called “Sensation”. This is full-on New York party a la ‘94. It’s straight out of Strictly Rhythm camp in its heyday. It’s big, it’s brash, the bass alone with have you shedding some serious sweat. It’s House music like House music should be! You’ll be diving into the red on the mixer with this looking for the maximum pump from the speakers.

The return of LeSale sees some scrumptious grooving with “Before the Night”. Tight drums and claps intertwined with the essential sensual vocal titbit’s that Luv Shack are renowned for. Lovingly assembled piano chords and other finger work complete this hooker with immediate and long lasting appeal.

Flip it over and Burnin Tears greet you with something just a little darker and broodier. Thoughtful Nu-Disco, building, developing, waiting for its time to break out and grab you by the testes and squeeze them ever so gently! And it does, courtesy of those once again well placed vocal drops and some enchanting old school synth work. “Your Fantasy” is a trip, taking you, as music should, just that little higher than the state you were in before. You’ll be wanting to hear this on a big set up!

And to bring matters to a close on LUV007 are Lee Stevens and Jakobin teaming up for “Dem Young People”. Deepness in abundance, strings and flutes aid the mood of a little gentle tension somewhere in the universe. Reflective, full of deep thought, and definitely a ‘lights out’ musical moment full of transportation possibilities. Bring on the heavy!
